(ma lo uso principalmente come CAD)
Lo affianco con #QCAD, ma soprattutto per fare in/out del (merdosissimo) formato proprietario DWG di Autodesk

So, drafting.
This feels like the kinda skill that feels useful to learn, but also that I have 0 reason to actually know how to do other than occasionally vaguely try to draw spaceships
But hey, I've never experimented with a skill without it slowly growing me in other unexpected areas.
... probably not going to get really good at this unless the software market completely dies though. Then maybe, we'd see.

Did you know that if you export Grease Pencil objects to SVG with camera-relative clipping, using an orthographic camera that matches the render's aspect ratio, and then edit the SVG file by swapping the units from "px" to "mm," you end up with an SVG that has spot-on measurements?
For example, an A3 (420x297), render at 4200x2970, orthographic camera scale = 4.2 #b3d #Blender3d #Blender #inkscape #CAD #QCAD -

Hallelujah! AutoCAD's DWG is a closed format that Linux CAD apps can't properly read. Well, there's apparently now a freeware Linux utility, ODA File Converter, that allows you to convert from DWG to DXF. Get the .appimage from here: https://www.opendesign.com/guestfiles/oda_file_converter
LibreCAD and other Linux apps I tested can now read these common files fine as DXF! A great solution for my brother too, who I recently converted to Linux too.

I don't understand why #QCad is not very popular in the Linux community. It has a free, GPL version that is way more put together than LibreCAD. In fact, LibreCAD is a fork of QCad from the late 2000s. QCad has way more features now, and most are free.
Sure, there's FreeCAD too, but that's more about 3D CAD, and it's more difficult to learn & use. QCad is a good starter 2D Cad/Cam, especially if you're coming from #AutoCAD 's UI.

LibreCAD, being a fork of QCAD 2.0.5 Community Edition, for a long time had only a Points-based Grid.
Now there are settings to fully customize the Grid look:
1) with Points type its possible to set Metagrid to Continious line type (or other).
2) with Lines type its possible to fully customize both, main Grid and Metagrid line types. Also, its possible to customize the look of Axis Lines and extend them infinitely.

LibreCAD latest CI builds now includes corresponding startup splash image according to version you are launching.
Also, old basic "About" dialog now replaced with a new one, which includes a splash image too (that is too large, really).
So, I proposed to use a half of a splash image as a banner image in a new "About" dialog, and diverse its look for ALPHA, BETA, RC and RELEASE releases: https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/issues/1913

N.B. Line-based grid is a new #LibreCAD feature (default grid is dot-based). To reset LibreCAD grid:
In "Application Preferences > Appearance" set:
Background: Black
Grid Color: Gray
Metagrid Color: #404040In "Current Drawing Preferences" set:
[check] Show Grid
[uncheck] Extend axis lines
Grid type: PointsFor comparison, as LibreCAD originally is a fork of QCAD Community Edition, here is a #QCAD screenshot with its actual default grids (point-based main grid with line-based metagrid).

#FreeCAD under developments, has continuos improvements and I really like what was and is done, specially my preferred part is the new Tech Draw improvements, now it is much faster and cleaner, with it you can generate nice drawing and export it as #DXF or #SVG, for me the ability to export in DXF is fantastic so I can edit drawings with #QCAD or other 2D #CAD editor. #fc3d https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-Bundle/releases/tag/weekly-builds

A metal sheets work with #Plasticity3D, unfolding and 2D generation with #FreeCAD, the annoying task, was the making of DXFs layout of all parts with #QCAD. Also Moi3D was used with complex 3D for 2D generation of assembly. rendering with #b3d, QCAD has some issues in the dimensions, the saved file differ from original. and dimension are wrong, I have to re-edit each time.

For :inkscape: #Inkscape experts: I have a #dwg file with a scheme that I'd like to edit in Inkscape.
What's best flow to (well) #convert this dwg file ( https://ufile.io/xobr6g02 ) to #svg ?
I tried with #Qcad exporting in #dxf, #svg etc etc, but I lose a lot of information.
Otherwise If I import the file in inkscape from pdf (that's here https://ufile.io/74qjzogc ), then it become very very slow, nearly impossible to edit.
Maybe it's there a method to "simplify" the #pdf imported?
