    Thank you, Ruth.
    I will read it.

From all I have been reading, my aggregate "gut feeling" is that we still underestimate the rate of #ClimateChange, as well as the interconnectedness of #TriggerPoints:

“Triggering one tipping point 👉could trigger another in a kind of dangerous domino effect👈,” says #TimLenton at the #UniversityOfExeter in the #UK, the report’s lead author.
“But also 👉these tipping points in the Earth...

  17. Thinking about #forestfires in #canada today. 10 y ago, Rick Schneider put out a report predicting what would happen to the #ecoregions of #Alberta because of 🌡️ #climatechange.
It shocked me 🤯 to see how much more #grassland there would be and how much less 🌲#BorealForest by 2050.
In 2023, I think we’re seeing how this massive #ecological transition plays out. Those trees don’t just disappear- they 🔥 #burn.
And as they burn, they release massive amounts of #carbon.

Was wondering why Japan's firefighting efforts were limited to helicopters with water buckets. Seems they trialled a converted PS-1 flying boat as well as a Canadian CL-215 in the 1970s, but cost-performance and proximity of dwellings to Japan's forests proved to be barriers to adoption.
    trafficnews.jp/post/648576
Also, seems forest fires in Japan were caused mainly by careless people, so education and penalties might be the first line in fire prevention.
