For #BlackHistoryMonth, #TechHub has changed our Info-Page Banner to include #ElijahMcCoy.
This isn't an amazing image, just something I threw together for @nicdex to put up, because I felt that putting up Elijah #McCoy's picture reflects who we are, what we stand for, and our thoughts on the world today.
Elijah McCoy's parents escaped from #enslavement in the #US in the early-1800s, gaining asylum in #Canada, and he was born in #Ontario in 1843. Being what we would now consider a "gifted" child, his parents saved money to send him to Scotland to study #engineering when he was 15.
He returned to the US after the Civil War, but could not find work as an engineer due to #racism and #segregation practices: anti-#discrimination programs like #DEI and the #EEOC, had not been established, so opportunities for even the most qualified #black men were scarce, passed up for even less qualified #white men.

I'm taking a break from social media and news for a few days. This #tariffs situation is really making me mad. Personally I won't be much affected, but a lot of hard working #canadians and #americans will be. I still can't believe he went forward with it.
I will keep working on getting the bank account and donations platforms back online for #TechHub, other than that I need a break.

Learned a new word meaning today as I got a great suggestion for my next blog engine's name:
noun. A brief explanatory note or translation of a difficult or technical expression usually inserted in the margin or between lines of a text or manuscript.
noun. An extensive commentary, often accompanying a text or publication.Of course, should've known it from the word "glossary".
I like it since it also has other, partly contradictory meanings. And it starts with Gl, for #Gleam! ;)

Mulle on tulossa paketti Espooseen. Se lajiteltiin Vantaalla 7.5. Seuraavana päivänä 8.5. se rekisteröitiin Espoossa ja sain kysymyksen että haluanko sen ovelle vai pakettiautomaattiin. Valitsin jälkimmäisen ja paketti rekisteröitiin uudestaan Espoossa 8.5., toimitusarvioksi tuli 9.5. (lauantai???). 8.5. illalla lähetys lajiteltiin taas... Vantaalla.
Lauantai tuli ja meni. Nyt 11.5. lähetys on kuljetuksessa Helsingissä. :D
Kylläpä pientä pakettia nyt heitellään.

As the admin of the Techhub.social #Mastodon instance recently posted about the "new" rules (https://techhub.social/@nicdex/109610267931996202) for product mentioning & promotion and I am not sure how we with @sceneworld would fit in, I decided to do the same as @vorleser and get our own instance for #sceneworld :)
As I just received an email from @mastohost that limited capacity for new servers are available, thought it couldn't hurt ^^

Reading about how tabs for indentation are an accessibility issue for some suddenly makes me feel like I should switch to tabs in all my projects.
Are there any accessibility concerns that would actually point to using spaces instead of tabs? Or is it just familiarity? Assuming you work with a code style where you don't need to align things to columns that don't divide nicely to tab levels.

Another ridiculous #EWaste situation. I bought a CMI cordless drill from #OBI about 10 years ago. It came with two NiCD battery pack, and as one would expect, they are almost completely dead by now.
I looked around for replacement batteries, and they sell around 40 EUR or more.

Sorry guys, because of a mis-configuration 🤦 all uploaded files bigger than 5MB uploaded prior to today where nuked at midnight (Eastern Time) each day.
Now that explains the issues reported with videos, where uploading worked but after a while they randomly failed (due to caching).
The issue is fixed so we shouldn't lose any more uploaded files. 👏

(1983)Prieš iPhone, prieš Nokia 3310, prieš visus mygtukinius telefonus buvo Motorola DynaTAC 8000X. Pirmasis laisvai nešiojamas telefonas, iki tol mobilieji telefonai buvo montuojami automobiliuose ir svėrė kaip lagaminas. Telefonas buvo 33 cm aukščio (su antena) ir svėrė beveik kilogramą, tad nešiotis jį galėjo tik fiziškai stiprūs, o įpirkti tik finansiškai galingi, nors pasinaudoti atjungus nuo laido galima busvo tik apie 30 min. Tačiau tai vis tiek buvo didžiausias statuso simbolis Volstryte.
Monochrominis LED ekranas, analoginis tinklas, NiCd 600 mAh baterija (iki 30 min. pokalbių, 10 val. krovimo), telefono adresųknyga 30 numerių, dydis 33 x 4.5 x 8.9 cm, svoris 794 g, be SMS, bet su vibracija ir greitu rinkimu.
DynaTAC 8000X kūrimo procesas truko 10 metų ir kainavo $100 mln., o pirmasis skambutis juo buvo atliktas Martin Cooper 1973 m. balandžio 3 d.

Koulukaveri vahvisti todeksi asian jota epäilin vaan joksi nuoruuden ajan pahaksi uneksi. Meillä oli joskus yläasteikäisinä koulussa esittely Kiasmasta meidän liikuntasalissa. Esityksen lopuksi kankaalle heijastettiin video jossa henkilö tunki suuhunsa muistaakseni suurta makkaraa. Mutta hän ei pureksinut vaan tunki sitä syvemmälle, kunnes oksensi ja oksennus tursusi makkaran välistä ulos. Ehkä nenästäkin, en muista.

I was wondering why my social media instance is acting so slow. Turns out my CPU is pegged to 100% due to #Amazon (EC2?) and #Meta/#Facebook IPs absolutely hammering my poor @[email protected] instance, hitting addresses that belong to a copy I have of the QMK firmware.

So i spent a few hours guaranteeing 20 instances, and adding about 25 or 30 endorsements/censors/hesitations.
I love the idea and I think it has a LOT of potential.
