While addressing your extremely serious and unfounded accusations against our users regarding the posting of CSAM/CP, I must strongly advise you to reconsider your perceptions, as this is neither #CSAM nor #CP.
Individuals who engage in such foolishness risk being #suspended from the #fediverse, resulting in your server being reduced to an echo chamber where users can only converse amongst themselves.
I urge you to cease this nonsense in the future and consider this as the first of three warnings regarding the posting of false accusations against my #fediverse installation and innocent users.

As the admin of the Techhub.social #Mastodon instance recently posted about the "new" rules (https://techhub.social/@nicdex/109610267931996202) for product mentioning & promotion and I am not sure how we with @sceneworld would fit in, I decided to do the same as @vorleser and get our own instance for #sceneworld :)
As I just received an email from @mastohost that limited capacity for new servers are available, thought it couldn't hurt ^^

For #BlackHistoryMonth, #TechHub has changed our Info-Page Banner to include #ElijahMcCoy.
This isn't an amazing image, just something I threw together for @nicdex to put up, because I felt that putting up Elijah #McCoy's picture reflects who we are, what we stand for, and our thoughts on the world today.
Elijah McCoy's parents escaped from #enslavement in the #US in the early-1800s, gaining asylum in #Canada, and he was born in #Ontario in 1843. Being what we would now consider a "gifted" child, his parents saved money to send him to Scotland to study #engineering when he was 15.
He returned to the US after the Civil War, but could not find work as an engineer due to #racism and #segregation practices: anti-#discrimination programs like #DEI and the #EEOC, had not been established, so opportunities for even the most qualified #black men were scarce, passed up for even less qualified #white men.

I meant to mark this with fanfare, but I apparently missed the date.
One year ago, September 23, 2023, I got on a Discord Call with @nicdex to work out me coming on TechHub #staff as a #Moderator. There was another influx incoming, and I wanted to help Fedi in any way I could, so I #volunteered, and TechHub needed another experienced moderator.
Since then, I've learned a lot and done a lot, including helping resolve 1397 reports, 228 of which came from me, and expanded the role in a lot of ways I felt were important, including publishing a curated blocklist, found at...

So i spent a few hours guaranteeing 20 instances, and adding about 25 or 30 endorsements/censors/hesitations.
I love the idea and I think it has a LOT of potential.
Regardless I want to list it all here so the effected instances can be aware and if they wish respond/react. You can read my reason for endorsement of any of the below servers in the links provided.

Update on TechHub donations... We are still waiting on the bank account to get everything setup again.
I'm not sure what is taking #BMO so long to approve our new bank account. I went in person, signed everything, had all documents and my identifications.
You can open bank account online almost instantly now a days... 🤷

Verification scammer is back at it again, so far he's using the same script so it's easy to catch. Still be careful, Mastodon or TechHub will never ask you for credentials or for your bank/credit card (except on our official donation page). Usage is free, verification is not for sale.

Good thing I took a random look at the #TechHub servers today. For some reason, the database replica was not working anymore. I'm rebuilding it as I write this.
FYI we rely on daily backups + hot replica in case of failure of the main server, so this would have been problematic if something happened.

We finally have our new bank account :D.
I am slowly moving our donations to the new bank account and once everything is ready I will be re-opening the donations page again.
