Un esempio significativo:
Le modalità elencative o di “prelievi dall’ordinario”, nelle opere di Gherardo Bortolotti, devono forse più al Silliman di Sunset debris che ai francesi, ipotizzo, ma poi Perec è logicamente incancellabile: l’ordinario delle prose o stringhe brevi di Bortolotti è chiaramente anche un infra-ordinario. (E: quattro tracce: è di Bortolotti il saggio La scoperta dell’America, che trattava autori passati totalmente sotto silenzio in Italia. Sempre sua è la traduzione di un fondamentale capitolo di The New Sentence, di Ron Silliman. Senza contare che la raccolta di selected poems di Bernstein uscita per le Edizioni del verri accoglie un importante contributo di traduzione di Bortolotti, così come è co-tradotto da lui un chapbook di Lyn Hejinian. E non nomino tutti i materiali in lingua inglese che grazie a lui sono usciti in italiano su gammm: da Jeff Derksen a Rodrigo Toscano, da Jon Leon a Jules Boykoff, da Bill Allegrezza a Tao Lin e molti altri).Per me personalmente, Christophe Tarkos tradotto da Michele Zaffarano, insieme a Derksen, Toscano e Leon, hanno avuto la stessa – non indifferente – incidenza. Non posso dire che la lingua francese abbia avuto per me un valore prevalente, all’inizio (diversamente dagli anni post-2006). Così come, sempre per me, tre autrici che ho letto, tradotto e pubblicato e continuo a leggere sono Kathleen Fraser, Kate Greenstreet e Jennifer Scappettone. (Per non parlare di Hejinian, di cui sono tuttavia solo lettore, non traduttore).
Aggiungo una riflessione – daccapo personale: mentre i langpo cronologicamente seguono i Novissimi, che noi gammmi avevamo ben presenti fin da prima di conoscerci, e che quindi ci permettevano di operare nessi credo limpidi; il filo di collegamento tra Tel Quel e autori francesi degli anni Novanta e Zero era ai nostri occhi (ma direi nella realtà) più problematico e frammentato, e quindi intrigante, per due motivi: una pronunciata alterità e distanza dei nuovi autori francesi dal piano metatestuale e da école du régard degli anni Sessanta e Settanta, da una parte, e – dall’altra – quell’idea di nudité intégrale del testo, o désaffublement, e letteralismo, che (mediata da Ponge attraverso Jean-Marie Gleize) cambiava il quadro della Francia per come era (assai mal) noto precedentemente in Italia soprattutto grazie alle meritorissime traduzioni di Giuliani di Pleynet, Roche e Faye.
In Italia in realtà una cospicua influenza francese è stata sempre avvertita e rilanciata semmai sotto forma (per noi meno interessante) di moduli vicino a una linea – diciamo così – Heidsieck-Chopin-Blaine, a cavallo – per gli italiani – tra istanze performative e complessità ‘laborintiche’ (cioè lontanissime dal désaffublement di cui sopra). Si tratta di un versante estremamente attivo nel nostro Paese, direi senza soluzione di continuità, da ormai più di mezzo secolo. (Pensiamo a tre esempi ormai ampiamente storicizzati: Arrigo Lora-Totino, Gianni Toti, Giovanni Fontana).
Diversamente, la testualità francese a cui da vent’anni o un quarto di secolo pensiamo noi di gammm è rispettosa di quel lavoro ma assai più vicina e affine al panorama di quegli autori che nei medesimi anni Duemila in cui scrivevamo noi si affermavano in USA e Canada: K. Silem Mohammad, gli stessi Toscano e Derksen, e poi Sharon Mesmer, Anne Boyer, Kenneth Goldsmith, Craig Dworkin, Gary Sullivan, Katie Degentesh, i già nominati Scappettone e Leon (entrambi pubblicati nella mia collana Felix, della Camera verde) e moltissimi altri, una intera generazione che faceva da trait d’union fra Language Poetry e noi, così come Tarkos, Nathalie Quintane, Charles Pennequin, Danielle Collobert, Éric Houser, Christophe Fiat, Jean-Michel Espitallier, Christophe Marchand-Kiss, e poi Amandine André, Khalid El Morabethi e una schiera di altri ci mettevano in grado di vedere le continuità e le discontinuità del discorso letterario francese tra gli anni Settanta e Novanta-Duemila.
