  1. Oh no, everyone! 🚨 The Pentagon is trying to "silence" someone again! 🎤🔇 Apparently, writing in a column is no less than a covert operation against national security. 🙄 I'm sure they're shaking in their boots at the thought of this "rebellion." 🥴

  6. Trump Isn’t Just Bullying Journalists. He’s Subverting the First Amendment.

The right attacked Biden for “jawboning” social media. Now Trump is doing it explicitly to control cable news.

  7. American broadcasters cutting the boos for JD Vance at the Olympics is a bold move—nothing says 'unifying the world' like pretending everyone loves your least popular export.

  8. Bari Weiss abruptly shelved a leaked 60 Minutes report on migrant torture at El Salvador’s CECOT prison, despite internal reviews confirming its accuracy. Critics see this as an example of proxy censorship—organization heads bowing to government pressure—highlighting concerns over media independence amid rising consolidation under pro-Trump ownership. Weiss’s support for narrow free speech masks a troubling double standard: speech suppression is acceptable when it aligns with conservative views, but condemned when liberals do it. This shift signals a dangerous move toward government and corporate control of what society can and cannot say, eroding democratic principles. Will this trend deepen? This is why we need sites like archive.org to survive, not just for media retention but for media integrity. The media's job is to report, not to stroke egos or echo a false narrative.

People cannot simply have an article pulled because "you didn't like it". Hell, even pulling an article for "slander" is a dangerous slope, as what is slander one day mutates into "I didn't like it" next week.

Without Media Integrity, we have no way to know the truth. If we lack the ability to discern what is a truth and what is a lie, we lack a fundamental understanding of the world around us and become easy to manipulate, and vulnerable to the whims of journalism with an agenda.

The job of the media (and journalism, by extension) is to report on the objective and unbiased truth of something. Sites like archive.org keep records of such articles, and thus, even if the article is pulled it remains.

  16. ABC journo Avani Dias - host of the ABC's excellent podcast "Looking for Modi" - has been effectively forced out of #India as a result of her reporting. 😢

As soon as I heard the first spicy episode, I suspected she would not be welcome there much longer.
