Some little problems I can find with the approach mentioned in the #SigmaDiff paper are the following:
* Adjacency matrices, even when using sparse structures, are huge for real world functions.
* Calculating an inter-procedural data dependency graph for real world binaries takes ages.
* I don't understand why are them using a symbolic analyser (might need to re-read it).
* The Cisco Talos Datasets 1-2 don't contain binaries for anything that isn't Linux + GCC or Clang. -

Here's the latest variant picture for Malaysia.
Sequencing volumes collapsed in mid-April and have remained sparse and patchy since, so these results are low-confidence.
XBB.1.16.* "Arcturus" (42%) may have overhauled XBB.1.9.* "Hyperion" (33%).
Be alert for conjunctivitis symptoms, particularly associated with Arcturus variant.
The mix of very different variants poses a raised immediate re-infection risk for anyone relying on natural immunity from a recent infection.
XBB.* "Gryphon" (11%) has been unusually significant. The most common sub-lineage from that clan has been XBB.1.24, featuring a Spike F486P mutation.
The sample volumes seem representative up to April 17.

Una troll farm è un luogo di lavoro, a volte un ufficio vero e proprio, a volte una rete di persone sparse, pagate per produrre consenso fittizio e per intimidire il dissenso. Il termine farm rende l’idea di una coltivazione industriale. Si coltivano identità, reazioni. Il lavoro somiglia a un call center, con consegne, supervisione, tempi precisi, ma il fine resta politico.
Gli operatori ricevono una task list, spesso via chat esterne, in molti casi Telegram. Dentro ci sono link ai post da occupare, mandano un link del vostro post, un hashtag da spingere, frasi pronte da ricopiare, talvolta immagini già impacchettate. Un coordinatore controlla la resa e corregge la linea. In certi casi esiste un vocabolario di insulto stabile, ripetuto fino alla nausea. In altri casi si lavora con un tono che imita l’utente comune, con domande finte, con il sarcasmo. Su Facebook questo si vede quando la stessa accusa ricompare con minime variazioni, sempre nelle prime finestre di visibilità del post.
Reuters Investigates, parlando dell’apparato digitale legato al presidente salvadoregno Nayib Bukele, riporta che una specialista della comunicazione mostrò ai giornalisti circa 200 account Twitter creati nel centro di trolling. La maggioranza aveva meno di 90 follower, molti risultavano creati fra gennaio 2019 e novembre 2020. Reuters aggiunge che, settimane prima della pubblicazione, 76 di quegli account risultavano ancora attivi. Un secondo esempio mostra la scala che una farm può raggiungere quando diventa una vera e propria industria. In un’analisi su disinformazione e politica nelle Filippine, Lawfare descrive la gestione di una troll farm da 400 a 500 persone con un budget intorno a 200.000 dollari, collegando quel modello alla centralità di pochi account dominanti e a una catena di amplificazione che scende verso profili minori. Un terzo esempio, utile per capire come un ufficio di propaganda possa funzionare con quote e turni, arriva dalla letteratura sul caso della Internet Research Agency russa. Un report dell’UNSW Canberra riassume stime ricorrenti fra 400 e 600 addetti, con stime massime che arrivano a 1000, e descrive turni lunghi, spesso da 12 ore, con rotazioni e continuità. Dentro una farm il trucco principale sta nella divisione del lavoro. Una parte crea profili, sceglie foto, inventa biografie, scalda gli account con like e con condivisioni innocue, così l’identità appare credibile. Un’altra parte entra nei thread bersaglio e lavora di saturazione. Un’altra parte controlla che i profili arrivino a grappolo e che la stessa storia venga ripetuta sotto post diversi, così da dare l’impressione di una maggioranza. Sotto un post su Gaza la sequenza tipica può essere questa. Arrivano reaction di scherno in pochi minuti. Arrivano commenti brevi con parole quasi identiche. Arriva la domanda-trappola, scritta per farti perdere tempo. Arriva il richiamo, taggano amici o pagine e così lo sciame cresce.
Gli espedienti tecnici servono a rendere difficile l’attribuzione. Account con bacheca chiusa. Foto stock o avatar generati. Rotazione di IP tramite proxy o VPN. Uso di dispositivi diversi, oppure di emulatori che imitano telefoni. Orari costruiti per simulare una vita, con pause e ritorni. Quando entra testo generato, il costo si abbassa ulteriormente. Reuters, nel caso STOIC attribuito da Meta, come abbiamo visto, parla proprio di commenti ritenuti “likely AI generated” distribuiti sotto post ad alta visibilità. -

Related: one of the things I love about my fellow scientists is their sense of humour. There are 2 ways to reconstruct the bed of the #AntarcticIceSheet; interpolate between those very sparse observations or use an ice flow model that has surface observations in it and invert to work out how the bed is changing the flow field.
Colleagues in Leeds/Sheffield have blended the 2 approaches and they have called it: "Frankenbed". Because why not? 😆

@hamatti That’s awesome! Seems like very well managed meetup. I think we could have this pre covid, but then the org teams got more tired and sparse and I’d say these days we’re still not where we were in the past. Hence ‘easy’ solutions like #meetupcom, because the other ways are more involvement, more time investment, more volunteers needed. And currently we don’t have those. I guess if the influx was better, we’d have them, but then that’s chicken and egg.

Migrated from #MastodonLol to #TechLGBT and the whole process was pretty straightforward and "it just works", but then I noticed that my home timeline was oddly sparse. Turns out that while you can migrate follows, any #hashtags you might be following don't come along for the ride. Followed hashtags also aren't exportable/importable.
Turns out an easy web UI way to list the tags was added to Mastodon 4.1.0 which was released *yesterday*, so it's not likely that #MastodonLol will be upgrading at this point.
Guess it's time to throw together some code and try to hit the API directly?

@Andrewpapale yeah, these are great questions!! It’s really hard to record in ventral HPC (especially CA1) and the cells firing there are very sparse and not really firing like place cells. If there are theta sequences and replay, it would probably be of something else than spatial trajectories. Some of my colleagues in the #vanDerMeerLab are on it!
