Stayed out late dancing in Williamsburg again. Last night's late Darkside show was named "the freak show" which ended up being about 70 minutes of non-stop improvising. Super interesting and mostly awesome unfolding of themes. Incredible patience building the jams and great flow. Very cool stuff, a great night.
Before that hit Mary Halvorson's Canis Major with Dave Adewumi, Henry Fraser, and Tomas Fujiwara. A couple of the songs were legit brainmelters. You see plenty of jazz and think "it's all pretty great" and then you see something like that and realize that there are tiers within tiers of excellence.
