I noticed a number of meetups on meetup.com that I long ago joined shutting-down.

I wonder if this just says something about the meetups I joined — or if this say suggests something broader happening with meetup.com

Has anyone seen similar?

I think we could have this pre covid, but then the org teams got more tired and sparse and I’d say these days we’re still not where we were in the past. Hence ‘easy’ solutions like #meetupcom, because the other ways are more involvement, more time investment, more volunteers needed. And currently we don’t have those. I guess if the influx was better, we’d have them, but then that’s chicken and egg.

heh #meetupcom sends weekly an email that "you are the leader of XY group, lead it" which means that nobody wanted to cough up $$$ so I am allowed to.
