In the VERY early days (pre-Obama Presidency) of Netflix Streaming, they had a lot of trash but the best of the trash they had was a ton of Troma movies (not many from Uncle Lloyd himself tho), which really helped cement my love of Troma at the perfect age (late teens) to truly appreciate it.

Checking out an album where Alan Lomax himself performs folk and blues songs he learned traveling across Texas. He has a good voice for rustic folk/country/blues.

Getting so excited when this old Unsolved Mysteries episode began with a story about crop circles and their connection to Stonehenge. Unreasonably happy.

Turned on some pro bowling on The CW and what do you know, there's Ol Rick Allen getting work wherever he can since fan demand has kept him out of the booth in NASCAR the last couple years.

Have an idea of a series where magick is real but only practiced in full by a select few, & an occultist magician is crossing the American West in the 1800s in search of a mystical relic before a dark magician can get it. It'd be like The Gunslinger by Stephen King, the 70s tv series Kung Fu, and 19th century occultism. Maybe a little bit of The Wild Wild West (show, not movie) in there too.

Morning album is A Beginner's Mind by Sufjan Stevens and Angelo De Augustine. It is really good so far, very lovely compositions and production. One of the few Sufjan albums I'm unfamiliar with as I have become a big fan of his in my 30s.

Everybody wishes they were Dale Cooper, but I want to be as flamboyant and insane as Windom Earle, wearing little costumes just for fun every day.

So many of the Beats were assholes, right-wingers (Kerouac, Burroughs), murderers (Burroughs, Lucien Carr), or open pedophiles (NAMBLA member Ginsberg). It is one subculture I mostly cannot get into at all even if young Ben liked some of their poems (mostly Ginsberg) and books. There's only a couple late-period Beats who were explicitly left-wing like Gary Snyder that I actually still enjoy reading and will defend.

I've never listened to a full Fiona Apple album, so for my daily new-to-me "Morning Album" I'm listening to Tidal. I've enjoyed the first couple of songs, have moderate hopes for the rest of the record.

Until tonight one of the only Tom Waits albums I had never listened to was The Black Rider. Finally gave it a spin and think it is pretty good, some parts of it reminds me of his later play collaborations Blood Money and Alice which I bought enjoy. Will listen again.

The only thing on CNN worth watching is How It Really Happened, and even that is far from a top tier doc series on #crime #truecrime or #scandal but it is pretty decent for broad strokes overviews reminding you of the details of a case if it has been a while since you touched on it. Sometimes that's all I'm looking for, I don't always want to do a deep dive into extremely dark matter believe it or not.

Catching up on the ARCA East race on Hickory which was added for free on YouTube, and I'm really impressed with the run by Dystany Spurlock who hasn't had near the speed of the leaders by running 7th-8th in larger than usual field all race long. She races on two wheels in a straight line usually as an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle standout, the NHRA being the only American motorsports where female drivers are quite common.

Color Me Country by Linda Martell was a one-off record, for a variety of different reasons she never really got another shot, but it is truly excellent. A very country-leaning version of country-soul music which is a genre I've been exploring the last couple of days.

A country-funk/soul morning as I listen to the only album released by Jim Ford, which is really quite good so far.
