"Boll Weevil" is a traditional #blues song, also known by similar titles such as "Boweavil" or "Boll Weevil Blues". Many songs about the #bollWeevil were recorded by blues musicians during the 1920s through the 1940s. However, a rendition by #LeadBelly recorded in 1934 by folklorist #AlanLomax led to it becoming well known. A 1961 adaptation by #BrookBenton became a pop hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Fats Domino's "Bo Weevil" is a different song.

Amazing backstory. Halfway through this rekkid and it's a ripper. Gabriele Bazza's vocals... damn.
"For me, this was a way to say, it’s OK if I’m Sicilian and I shout when I talk, it’s OK to talk in the richness of dialect. I don’t have to be ashamed.”

Checking out an album where Alan Lomax himself performs folk and blues songs he learned traveling across Texas. He has a good voice for rustic folk/country/blues.
