  1. @xyhhx @cyberfarmer This page on the Arch wiki is certainly a good resource that I've used:
    wiki.archlinux.org/title/Linux

And this seems to be a very detailed write-up but I have to damit that I've just glossed over it:
    raydenchia.com/linux-container

  2. @yarmo Nah not IMO...better donate the money to a non-profit like , or
The good feeling of supporting an important cause like this, usually persists much longer than a giggle...

  3. posted a video with one of the best thumbnails I've seen in a while 😂

    I put a computer in my computer - youtube.com/watch?v=cVWF3u-y-Zg

  4. Of course I also forgot to mention the crazy three-team deal involving and from the , , respectively.

For more about that trade, listen to this:

  5. @Linux4Everyone

I've tried Zorin OS a couple times in the past and the sensible decisions made by their devs over the years, still make it my number one distro recommendation for non-tech-savvy people like my mom or people with older machines formerly running Win7, often just used for office work and light web browsing.

  6. @robby @deadNOTsleeping Wow, people on Fosstodon sure share a lot of interests haha
I got my about a month ago and have been trying to get into typing on , but have my Board still to come back to if I don't have ten minutes to write an Email 😅
    Which did you choose?

  7. I have a removable HDD that was encrypted using .

Whenever I attach it to my Linux desktop it gets decrypted after I enter the password.
    I'm using for disk management.
After decryption it gets mapped to `/run/media/<username>/<some-uuid>`.

However this UUID changes by one digit every time I attach and decrypt the disk.

Can someone tell me why this happens and how to assign a fixed mount point?

  8. @mdrights has got me covered and there is not really functionality I miss 🤷‍♂️
Anything has to offer that other software doesn't?

  9. @janjan I have never been a fan of the , but man how can you not love ?!
His outlook on life and what is truly important is absolutely admirable.
There is a lot of wisdom in this statement he made after a disappointing loss:

  10. @apachaves Perhaps .io suits your needs...
    taiga.io/
Another Open Source Software for working with Charts is (ganttproject.biz/) although I have never used it.

  11. @samurro My main pdf processor is which is just wonderful.
It is a library written in whcih comes with a cli and I was able to replace most of my scripts with it.
Extracting, splitting, converting, rotating, putting watermarks etc. can all be done with it and I am always surprised how few people know it 😄

  12. @joseph I haven't gone back to Google Play, but I left a lot of Google's bullshit on my Xiaomi mobile phone (along with their garbage apps), because removing them, always caused a boot loop...
I just don't use them now

I have been using for quite a while to get some apps from Google Play
and use for getting apps from the and repos

This works quite well and I does not give me any headaches, although it might not be the most private approach

  13. @someodd I don't do development so I cannot speak from experience, but this might help you set it up with :
    github.com/aveltras/setting-up

I'm personally using nix-shell for occasional Python development

  14. @comcloudway Just because Blender wasn't made with parametric modelling in mind, doesn't mean it isn't proper
I think and are very interesting projects, that extend working with Blender into the parametric modelling space
    blenderbim.org/
    nortikin.github.io/sverchok/Ab

Also, your model looks interesting. What would you like to plant on these three stages or how did this design come to be? 🌿

  15. I have recently booked a long-distance flight and now feel a little guilty about the climate impact and was thinking about compensating it. According to atmosfair ( atmosfair.de/en/ ) my flight produces about 3200kg of CO2, or about twice as much as the average Indian produces in a year. In theory every person would have a yearly budget of 2300kg.
How do you handle these concerns? Do you compensate your flights?

Please vote and boost for reach 🙏

  16. @kevkev The plunge at the end of the clip heavily reminded me of , which was one of my favourite games back in the day 🤟
Would love to play your game once it's ready!!

  17. What the frigg?! :blobfoxshocked:
I've been using for more than 5 years now as a backup email provider and today suddenly synchronisation stopped working.
I logged into my account and it displayed that IMAP is no longer available for my account...the linked help site does not mention this at all :blobfoxnotlikethis:
    Any ideas?

  18. Can anyone tell my what I have to configure for not to discard my input, when it could not find anything in my history and I hit <Ctrl>+<C>
It is very annoying that I somehow cannot just drop out of fzf

  19. @samuelnorbury A better alternative would then probably be
I use the web interface and Thunderbird at homr and an Android app on the go, but I can imagine that the web interface would be fine to use in a browser on your Librem 5 as well.
This option requires a Nextcloud server on which the notes are stored as Markdown or txt files

  20. @Iutech I love my workflow with on my Linux desktop and notebook and on my mobile phone and other devices via webapp.
Privacy friendly, feature rich, sync works nicely and support is all I could ask for! :ablobcathappypaws:

  21. @novichan is quite polished and I like the choices the dev made when it comes to repos and overall design

  22. Compare that to a polished Linux distro like or some of the custom stuff on r/unixporn and you will probably have to admit, that besides its functional deficiencies, is also an ugly mess

  23. @[email protected] I fell in love with , but if you're looking for a polished distro like and do not mind using , I recommend
It has quickly become one of my favourite distros, due to its sane defaults, fresh looks and its good application selection ✌️

Honoring one of my idols in professional sports on today's
I always admired his work ethic and limitless tenacity when he was still playing and even to me as a European watching his clips from time to time has in no doubt influenced me growing up and motivated me to pick up basketball again 🏀
