In order to give some more tips on what to explore next I'd say add @IzzyOnDroid repo to your f-droid install from apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/

Frage zu Vertraulichem Profil bei GrapheneOS :

Ich nutze im normalen, als auch im vertraulichen Profil (nicht verwechseln mit zweitem Nutzerkonto!) Den Aurora APP-Store.

Wenn ich jetzt in einem der beiden Profile ein Update einer APP aus dem Store mache, ist die APP in dem anderen Profil ebenfalls aktualisiert.

Muss das so? Kann man das unterbinden?

Sinn und Zweck meiner Übung:
Apps laufen manchmal nach einem Versions-Update nicht mehr auf einem googlefreien Android, weil der Hersteller einen Googlezwang einbaut, oder so.
Das möchte ich in dem zweiten Profil eigentlich vorab testen. Oder brauche ich dafür ein anderes Nutzerkonto?

Also ich benutze jetzt seit knapp einem Jahr #GrapheneOS auf einem Pixel Pro 9 – und die Bilder der Kamera sind wirklich beeindruckend. Für den Alltagsgebrauch nutze ich wie oben beschrieben die Google Kamera App (ohne Netzwerkzugang) aus dem #AuroraStore, wenn ich Parameter manuell einstellen will #OpenCamera aus dem #FDroidStore.
Die Installation von GrapheneOS war problemlos ohne vorherige Verbindung des Geräts mit einem Google-Account möglich.

APP sofort Google- und Apple-frei unterwegs mit @GrapheneOS

Gleich auch mal die Spendenmaschine für verschiedene Projekte anwerfen. Danke an alle.

Iemand anders toevallig ook problemen met het installeren of updaten van de #Triodos app met #AuroraStore? #FOSS #dtv

I finally got a #DeGoogled phone and it's awesome. I bought a used Pixel with #LineageOS 22.2 pre-installed. I hoped I could get voice guidance for driving directions. #OrganicMaps works great with the #RHVoice I got from #FDroid. It sounds like #FitterHappier by #Radiohead, but it beats #surveillance! I also got #Whisper+ speech recognition. It's kind of slow, but it beats surveillance! I got most of my other apps from the #AuroraStore. A few wouldn't install, but I can use the web versions.

⚠️ PSA for those using the #GoogleCamera alias #GCam:

Starting with version 10 the GCam no longer works without Play Services installed. Latest version known to be working without them is 9.9.

If you are affected by this and don't want to get the update by accident you should blacklist the app in your app store such as #AuroraStore.

I bought a phone from #Murena and then went from /e/OS to Fairphone stock Android 13 (for compatibility reasons) to LineageOS. #Verizon claims that the device is not supported, and they gave me the runaround when I tried to activate service on stock Android, even though everything just worked on /e/OS. They don't know what they're doing: Everything just works on LineageOS too.

Well, except the stuff that needs Google Play Integrity, since I'm not gonna try to spoof that. I was able to install the #Chargepoint app via #AuroraStore and log on, but it refuses to serve me. Not to worry, though, I have an RFID card coming in the mail for that.

With any luck this device will get me through the next few years.

I cant remember how I did this the last time I set up a phone two years ago...

I'm trying to install Google/Pixel camera on my #Pixel 7 running #AOSP-based #Iodé, but #AuroraStore says it's not compatible with my device.

I'd preferably like to get the old version I was running before, 9.0.115.586536401.40 (before they ruined the UI).

Does anyone know where I can get a working APK for my device?

I must install the Interrail Android app in order to to activate my Interrail ticket, but Aurora Store tells me the app is not available for my device. How can I get it? I could maybe download the APK from Apkpure, but I’d use it as the last resort, since I don’t know how trustworthy it is.

I’m using a Fairphone 5 running CalyxOS 6.8.21, and Aurora Store v4.7.2, downloaded from F-Droid all features are enabled in MicroG. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Aurora

Hey #mastodon 👋. Just wondering, could you suggest some #zombie games for #android ? I've tried many mainstream #zombiegames before but, the one I really liked was #thewalkingzombie and #thewalkingzombie2.

Avez-vous déjà essayé Neo Store ? Il faut l'installer depuis F-droid et il remplace ensuite ce dernier. Plus moderne il présente un autre avantage : de très nombreux dépôts sont présents par défaut. Il suffit de les activer.

How does using the #Jolla #JollaC2 (@jolla) with #SailfishOS for about a week as a daily driver now (with my old #iPhone at home as a backup)?

In general, it works much better than I had hoped after my experiences with other alternative #smartphone systems and it indeed is the first (and so far only) system that indeed works quite well. Also at around 285€ (https://commerce.jolla.com/products/jolla-community-phone) it isn't too expensive, so one can simply try it out.

There are a few limitations though:

* I am really missing biometric unlocking
* There is no predictive text input, so typing could be more comfy
* The UX experience sometimes feels strange (but no no-gos for me)
* It is not a snappy and fast device
* Audio quality is so-so
* GPS really needs a GPS signal, so no WIFI-based location

What is great:

* It is a real #Linux, so it has a #terminal, #sshd, you can e.g. use the #Nix package manager etc.
* Android apps are running in a container
* You can have different users to limit data access

Unfortunately there are nearly no high-quality native apps so far and the built-in ones are very basic (e.g. email).

But: The #Android compatibility layer is very good, the system comes with #Fdroid and #AuroraStore (#Google store front-end) pre-installed, so you can easily install practically all official Android apps.

Most apps work very well, some (especially banking) apps do not though as they complain that the system is rooted, so YMMV regarding the apps you need.

In general I am really happy with this system.

And: All the de-ggoglefied Android phones like the #Volla will always still remain just that: A more limited Android. SailfishOS offers a path towards powerful native (#Qt/#QML/#Cplusplus/#Python/you name it) based apps.

I am hoping that Jolla will provide a significantly more powerful device option and that some of the problems above will be solved.

But already now, even with the limitations above, if you are somewhat technically inclined (but without the need to fiddle with a command line unlike with the open mobile Linux distributions), want to get rid of #Google or #Apple for whatever reason, want a #Linux #smartphone, support a #European company from #Finland, this phone is really usable.

* It is a real #Linux, so it has a #terminal, #sshd, you can e.g. use the #Nix package manager etc.
* Android apps are running in a container
* You can have different users to limit data access

Unfortunately there are nearly no high-quality native apps so far and the built-in ones are very basic (e.g. email).

But: The #Android compatibility layer is very good, the system comes with #Fdroid and #AuroraStore (#Google store front-end) pre-installed, so you can easily install practically all official Android apps.

Most apps work very well, some (especially banking) apps do not though as they complain that the system is rooted, so YMMV regarding the apps you need.

In general I am really happy with this system.

And: All the de-ggoglefied Android phones like the #Volla will always still remain just that: A more limited Android. SailfishOS offers a path towards powerful native (#Qt/#QML/#Cplusplus/#Python/you name it) based apps.

I am hoping that Jolla will provide a significantly more powerful device option and that some of the problems above will be solved.

But already now, even with the limitations above, if you are somewhat technically inclined (but without the need to fiddle with a command line unlike with the open mobile Linux distributions), want to get rid of #Google or #Apple for whatever reason, want a #Linux #smartphone, support a #European company from #Finland, this phone is really usable.

Aurora Store recently integrated app compatibility ratings powered by @techlore's Plexus and added support for Google Account Login via MicroG (enabled by default)! Among other changes.
