    In 2025, Solar & Clean Power met all demand growth while fossil electricity stayed flat.

    Fossil exports in mid-2026 are paralyzed on 4 seas & in Russia, while China rolls out EVs (electric vehicles) & renewables at massive scales.

    Climate Victory is Possible

    But Climate Change presents a less talked-about problem: the threat to Ocean Oxygen.

    Seawater only contains 6-10 mg/kg of molecular oxygen, O2, compared to 210,000 mg/kg in the air.

    This is not just about dead zones caused by fertilizer runoff. Oxygen only gets into The Ocean by surface mixing and the photosynthesis that happens in the top 200 meters where light reaches (mostly in shallower depths than that). The deep oceans must be replenished by the Global Thermohaline Circulation, the AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) portion of which is weakening. No one knows when it might collapse.

    Also, warmer waters can hold less dissolved gases, of which O2 is one. About 91% of excess global heating from greenhouse gas emissions goes into the oceans.

    99.8% of the oceans are 5.6 km or less deep. If the Earth were the size of a basketball, that would be about 1/5th the thickness of a sheet of copy paper. About 9% of it is continental shelf, 200 m or less deep. 80% of the atmosphere’s mass is in the troposphere, the lower 6 km (at the poles) to 18 km (in the tropics).
