#MakeShitMonday, #Sugru edition...

I got a new pair of sport sunglasses, and the yellow rubberized part at the end of the temples catches on my hair, and when I have it up in a ponytail, that's a PIA.

I used some black Sugru (moldable silicon rubber) to mold around the end with the catchy bits. Now the temple tips slide smoothly over my hair when putting the sunglasses on or taking them off.

(I was in a rush getting it done last night, so I didn't take any pictures of the process, but here's a picture of the result.)

Today's #eInk #cyberdeck update - I've been messing with cables and trying to work out how to keep things in position.

I'd bought some #fixits (I'd previously used #sugru but that seems hard to buy currently?) with the hope of using a splodge of that on each corner of the screen, but it turns out fixits isn't sticky like sugru is - it molds well, but is almost impressively unsticky 😅
Thankfully, I'd bought a combo of some of the "reusable tape"[^1] and that seems to be doing the trick (it's double sided but comes with a film on one side so you can also use it single sided).

J’espérais que s’il y avait une chose que le rachat de #Sugru par Tesa apporterait, ce serait de trouver du Sugru plus facilement et à plus d’endroits, et peut-être même moins cher (et réaliser l’ambition d’être un produit aussi ordinaire que le rouleau de scotch).

Au final c’est totalement l’inverse, c’est plus difficile à trouver maintenant et on ne peut plus leur en acheter directement ☹️

Does anyone know if #sugru is heat resistant enough to use on the barrel of a hair dryer?

The glue blogging world appears to have been taken over by AI crud 🙄 (one article told me that 350 degrees Fahrenheit is more than halfway to the boiling point of water*) so I'm not finding anything trustworthy there.

* Look, I'm no American & I don't trust their weird-ass counting systems but even I know that's a bit off...

I finally got around to affixing little dots of Sugru on approximately 10 LEDs in my bedroom. They say those lights can disrupt sleep. #sugru #led #lights #sleep

Managed to #repair an annoying rattle in my old #Aeropex (a common problem with the older models apparently) using a small hand-drill & some #Sugru, prolonging their life & saving them from becoming #ewaste. Sound & microphone are working fine after the #fix & I'm feeling proud of having saved myself approx. €130 (the difference between the cost of the repair kit vs a new pair of headphones).

Ich hab ja einen USB-C-Adapter für die Klinkenbuchse gebraucht und da ist der von Apple um 10 € quasi konkurrenzlos bis weit über 100 € und funktioniert mit nem vorerst notwendigen Treiber-Workaround für die Lautstärke auch unter Android.
Die Apple-Kabel sind aber durch geplante Obsoleszenz so filigran, dass sie berüchtigt schnell reißen.
Hab da auf den Tipp von @schmittlauch Tesa #Sugru rumgeknetet und jetzt beim 2. Versuch mit längerer Verbindung an den Steckerseiten scheint er fest zu halten.

I didn't realize how much longer.

The stuff in our fridge was dated use by 2018 and is still flexible and moldable. Assuming it sets by tomorrow then I for sure will be keeping all my sugru in the fridge from now on.

Took some setting up but my retroid pocket 3 is now loaded with tons of roms and emulators, plus moonlight for streaming from my desktop, and minecraft for funsies.

Thinking of hacking it with some sugru to improve the grip.

Lost the little rubber pad on the bottom of my Thinkpad X1 Carbon which caused it to wobble. Still had some #Sugru lying around I bought a while ago to fix some cables and it worked like a charm. Even matches the colour of my Thinkpad's nipple 😁
