Interesting passage from #Tolkien quoted here as both #anarchist and #monarchist. A man who would follow an absent king.

@ProfTentacles I saw this post because I started following #FolkHorror as a hashtag today… so in case you’re not doing that, it’s an idea. (I haven’t added #70sSciFiArt yet but I also follow them elsewhere, so I’ll do that hashtag now - thanks!)

The bells at 7:00 are insane. We, as a culture, cannot forget this #music existed.

Ignore the suits, if you can, and try to watch the hands. Tightest band in existence.

@tommyyum “I Got You” by Split Enz definitely has something going on under the obvious level.
(This is probably true for a lot of early 80s songs.)
#NotALoveSong -
@tommyyum I think the canonical example is “Every Breath You Take” but maybe “There She Goes” by the Las is more in line with what you’re after.
#NotALoveSongAlthough these are intentionally not what they sound like.

@grantimatter Oh, I mean, *everything* is always a #grift for these disingenuous #motherfuckers.
I was just laughing (aided by said #edible) at the mental image of some poor #ignorant men having their mind (yes, collective, singular) blown by the idea that a #college didn't even have an #athletic program. Cheering on their local college team is the closest they've gotten to #HigherEducation since blackout drinking through a gen biz degree at a couple hundred bucks a semester 45 years ago... 🙃

Name things that interest me that aren't in my profile, but do so as hashtags so they're searchable.
OK, could be fun!

Frank Zappa on Tina Turner and her idiot husband.
(Quoted here: http://frankzapppa.blogspot.com/2014/02/tina-turner-is-singing-with-frank-zappa.html
But there's a better version of the story here, because audio clips:

Carl Strathie – „Dark Encounter“ (2019)
(ARD/BR)

"Sometimes I hear them talk of an all-inclusive theory...."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kNUh5ciOcQI loved this song back when (and actually put an answer-song on my one released album), but never heard this remix.
"He Never Knew the Benefits of Caffeine" - Burnside Project.
It's a story song about late-night radio driving a night nurse out of their mind, or at least distracting them to the point of negligence.
It was a warning that #TheStormIsComing, when #QAnon was still a decade in the future.

I have taken a break between the fifth and sixth of C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower books.
They've been published in chronological order, starting with him as a young midshipman, but Book 6, _Beat to Quarters_, is actually the first one written, so I'm really looking forward to it. Savoring it.
Feels a little like a guilty pleasure, but I'm into it. Old fashioned boys' adventure, Royal Navy propaganda, the crack of the lash and the creak of the rigging. #HoratioHornblower
