@glyph @mcc I have been developing in Python over 20 years but have always been leery of UI work due to the complexity of Tkinter and GTK APIs. Last year I surveyed the options for RAD GUI tools and landed on #PySimpleGUI. Over a few months I was able to iteratively develop and enhance a SQL query tool of modest complexity and found joy in accomplishing the task. No longer intimidated I am now exploring other options such as #Streamlit and #Textual

I just saw this #GarageDoorDeadBolt device mentioned on #KPIX which is being installed by a local #RichmondDistrict resident for his neighbors which has created a business for him & his son as a result.
I don't have any financial interest in this device but I'm always looking for ways to enhance the security of my home. When home, I turn off the electricity to the 2 garage doors in my house & when I'm on trip, I'd stick screw drivers in the tracks to prevent the doors from being rolled up but that's not practical when I just go out for a few hours or until late at night when a garage door burglar could strike.
This device is a deadlock that's synch with the remote so that it disengages when the remote is activated and relocks when the door is closed. It's perfect & the best device for securing a roll up garage door that I've ever seen. The only problem is that I've gotta buy 2 but I can afford it and I think it's well worth it.

For example, Harriet has gained two new side characters including an absentee landlady who is highly unlikely to appear. But it’s nice to know that she’s there in the background.
Shame I can’t figure out if I’m writing a film or a TV series… 🤔
