  1. 🌹The Rose House is a once-grand palace in Lebanon.

It is said that its striking pink façade echoes the roses that flourished in the now-disused gardens.

The main living area is typical of historic Lebanese buildings, with high ceilings and an internal triple-arched arcade leading to a balcony. The residence has a long terrace on the seaward side, perfect for basking in the sun and taking in the breathtaking panorama.

  2. Dalton Mills, Keighley. A beautiful abandoned Victorian textile mill in West Yorkshire. I had the privilege of exploring and documenting this historical place a few years ago. Sadly, a huge fire destroyed it in 2022.

  3. The Derby Hippodrome opened in 1914, a 1000-1200-seat venue constructed out of red brick with terracotta dressings. The ceiling would have featured moulded panels and framings with elaborate Baroque plasterwork.

The theatre later became a cinema and finally a bingo hall, ultimately closing in 2007. It stood abandoned for decades before being demolished last year. A sad end to a beautiful building!

  4. This mourning hall was built in the 1890s, and has a Neo-Gothic architectural style. The long corridor is lined with cubicles. Each one is partitioned by metal walls, with a matching metal door.

Inside each is a low stone slab with a stained glass window to provide natural light. In these cubicles, the family and friends could say goodbye to the deceased in private.

  5. Sunset photoshoot at an abandoned junkyard, somewhere on the east coast of the USA. My favourite, this 1970’s Green Mercury Cougar.

  6. Opened in the 1950s, this sprawling facility was once the primary training hub for , schooling tens of thousands of crew over six decades.

In these decaying 1950s office blocks, theory classes and pre-flight lectures were once held. There is also the pilot training area, which still contains the hollowed-out shells of Boeing 737-400 full-motion flight simulators.

  7. An abandoned roadside inn that closed down around 10 years ago. Somewhere in Germany.

The front bar had an interesting paint job on the walls; what colour would you call that? Chartreuse? 💚

  8. 🏰 A huge abandoned "fortress" in the desert,

Rising from the sands of the Wadi Rum desert, this fortress is not an ancient ruin but an abandoned TV set. Built for the short-lived gameshow Les Forges du Désert (2001), designed to mimic a historic stronghold. If you know what Crystal Maze is, it was very much like that!

  9. 🐘 Does this look like an elephant to you? I can't unsee that now....

Hidden in a Swedish forest is a vast car graveyard, with hundreds of vehicles slowly sinking into the earth. Two brothers opened this scrapyard in the 1950s

The brothers closed the business in the 1980s, leaving a forest full of rusty cars from their once-thriving business.

  10. 🖤🤍 Who likes spooky Gothic graveyards, and/or 35mm ?

Highgate Cemetery is a Victorian burial site in .

Highgate Cemetery is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character. Notable areas include the circular Circle of Lebanon, a circular path lined with cedar trees, and the Egyptian Avenue.

  11. Cavern Of Lost Souls, Wales. A narrow opening in this old slate mine has allowed decades of illegal dumping of cars and household appliances. The water is an ominous turquoise, filled with a toxic cocktail of leached chemicals.

  12. ♉♋ The Zodiac Room, inside an abandoned mansion in Portugal

On the upper floor of this collapsing house, a spacious white room features a vaulted ceiling. Each ornate rib that traverses the vault carries a different zodiac symbol, sculpted out of moulded plasterwork.

The French Fortress is a mysterious castle-like structure in the Wadi Rum desert of Jordan. It is the abandoned set of a late 90s gameshow.
