#Mini update. Deposit placed!
An original Irish 998cc Austin Mini, complete with brown log book. Resprayed a few years ago, with a little corrosion on the front corner seams.
Engine rebuilt and bored slightly, plus a recent service, new coil and other bits from Deane's. Front discs, stainless exhaust and 10" steel wheels.
Heading back to Meath at the weekend to collect it. File pic from the ad because I forgot to take one.
Celebrated by clearing space in the shed!

I’ve been a bit MIA from Mastodon for the last few days, but there’s a good reason. I bought a 1974 MGB GT V8 project from the father of a friend of mine. Aside from needing a good deal more work, there was a catch. The car was in Burnet, Texas. I live in Michigan.
So me, my friend, and another friend are on a mission to run down to Texas to retrieve Gerald the GT and bring him back to Michigan.

🚌🇱🇹 Old bus graveyard, somewhere in Lithuania. These are Soviet-era паз-672 (PAZ-672) buses from the 1960s to 1980s. Their colourful paint flakes and fades and weeds grow around their deflated tyres.

There is only one good self serve wand-type carwash in the Coachella Valley. After giving my car the special attention it deserves, I found today's carspotting subject. It's a first generation VW Rabbit diesel hatchback.
This one's in really nice daily driver condition. I had a gas-powered 1974 Rabbit, bought new very soon after they were introduced, yellow like this one but a lighter shade.

I absolutely don't need another car, but I bought one anyway. I know they're common in other parts of the world, but in the US, when a 2013 VW Jetta SportWagen TDI 6-sp manual falls into your lap, you don't pass it up if you're an automotive masochist like me. This one comes with records and seems never to have gone more than 10k miles without needing thousands of $ in repairs. The only other 3-axle CX Break I really admire is #Tissier's 7m long #CX14 with high roof and 6 doors: http://www.sixmania.fr/en/citroen-tissier-cx14-1981/ (I don't like most of Tissier's rather edgy and bulky CX-based ambulance and delivery van designs. #Pijpops definitely did more eye-pleasing designs.)
And I already have a (normal) CX Break in my garage… 😎
