I’ve been a bit MIA from Mastodon for the last few days, but there’s a good reason. I bought a 1974 MGB GT V8 project from the father of a friend of mine. Aside from needing a good deal more work, there was a catch. The car was in Burnet, Texas. I live in Michigan.

So me, my friend, and another friend are on a mission to run down to Texas to retrieve Gerald the GT and bring him back to Michigan.

2019 Tornado Red #Volkswagen #UP! in the yard today which had been brought in for #MOT inspection.

This is the smallest VW #hatchback, next one up is the Polo then the Golf..

The driver (a young woman) turned up with her mum to collect it as I was looking at the #car and taking the photo.

I did tell them why I was taking an interest in it as you don't see that many Tornado Red ones nor with automatic transmission (although single rather than dual clutch) and pointed to my own GTI parked outside another unit, so hopefully they weren't too freaked out and didn't think there was any sinister motive in my interest..

(incidentally there are multiple shades of Tornado Red, this one was just slightly darker than my GTI)

Just went by several car dealerships; MG, BYD, VW, all in a row. MG and BYD have colourful cars, all kinds of shapes, sizes and models. VW have a sea of various size SUVs in white/grey/black and it looks so bland and boring. No wonder they're losing marketshare when their offering is so boring.

Just saw a buttercup yellow NA Miata!

I've finally added a two way breather valve to my fuel tank which will hopefully make filling the tank easier. I hope to never test its roll over protection functionality.

I could have just strapped it but it was an excuse to print something in ABS. Only the MOT tester is ever likely to see it, but it pleases me.

So the answer to the outstanding #NameThatCar challenge a Buick... More or less!
It is in fact 1938 Mc Laughlin Buick Special, built in Canada for Right-Hand-Drive markets this one was delivered to Sunderland in the UK in 1938 so survived WWII and some terrible weather!
This beautifully restored example of what must be a rare car has appeared on screen in various films and TV shows!
Well done if you got it right, or at least that it was a #Buick Special.

As many of you #WeirdCarMastodon folks correctly identified it was a Buick Special. Those portholes in the wing were very distinctive!
The only question was whuch model.
Helpfully the owner had provided an informative label.
Buick Special Model 48 264 cui Fireball V8.
