  1. Well, #TriMet and the #TransitApp cost me 2 hours of wasted time and $15 in cancellation fees today, which should be added to the costs of living #carFree… what a way to start the week 🙃

I got up at 5:40 to get to a 7:30 strength training class and made it all the way from Beaverton to #Portland Pioneer Square South, but only found the bus when it passed me by. Why the fuck do they make their temporary bus stop signs absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to find!? Maybe I should buy a car, after all…

  2. @stephaniepixie @renata I was going to suggest #TransitApp but I also haven’t tried the bike+ bus/train combo, but it seems like the kinda feedback their engineers could be very down for.

  3. If @kagihq made a dedicated maps app, I’d happily replace both #AppleMaps and #GoogleMaps, at least for search/discovery.

Add simple, reliable turn-by-turn directions, saved places, and privacy-forward iOS Calendar events sync? I’d happily pay a monthly subscription.

Tired of Google’s surveillance, ads, and crowded interface. Tired of Apple’s incomplete search results and laggy performance (and upcoming ads). (#TransitApp you can do no wrong, but sadly need car directions in Texas.)

  4. When #metrotransitmn upgrades the 6 to the E this winter, the scoreboard on #transitapp will go away. So while I still have the chance for it, I'm trying to get to the number one contributor spot on the scoreboard!

  5. Anyone have a good writeup on public transit in Detroit? Even the Transit app doesn't seem to give any details about how fares work

  6. First time buying a bus ticket inside the #TransitApp: very easy, nicely integrated with transit directions. Helps make #massTransit much easier for tourists. #urbanism #pittsburgh

  7. 2024 Riders Choice Awards

We asked riders what they think of public transit. Here's which systems came out on top.

  8. No idea how well this works on BART, but it's experiments like this why I'm such a big #TransitApp fanboy

  9. @Iamgroot11 Hahaha, It’s fun gamification. So sad/fun fact: they removed the custom names. From the #TransitApp 5.17.2 changelog:

    * And goodbye, custom GO names! Our users’ creativity > our lawyer budget
    * Special thanks to ****** ***** [sic] for all the laughs, but not the legal education

I do like the randomizer though!

  10. This is so cool! 🚇

#TransitApp developed an ML model that uses accelerometer data of the train movements to predict location while underground. All on-device.

The blog post is such a joy to read, too.

[And it doesn’t mention “AI”, so you know engineers wrote it, how refreshing]

  11. There are literally five #TransitApp users on my bus right now, three of them potentially paying customers. Hello my fellow pro-social transit riders!
