This week’s #ThrowbackThursday spotlight study highlights how these unique creatures are increasingly caught as bycatch by trawlers who supply the Traditional Chinese Medicine market. Because they are slow, live in low densities, and form strict monogamous pairs, the sea moth population is highly vulnerable to overfishing.

For #ThrowBackThursday and #Doorsday here are some photos of an amazing organic brick building I saw in 2004.
The problem is that I have no idea where I ran across it, since my camera didn't have GPS back then. I was living in DC at the time, and there are no surrounding pictures from other places.
UPDATE: It was quickly found by @tedder in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where I went for an environmental group meeting.

Looking at this pic of me some 23 years ago, I thought to myself: Sometimes life gives you lemons, sometimes faeries.
Sometimes life throws fae at you, sometimes you toss them away. Fly free, little fae!
The apparent nudity is a combination of green bodysuit and photoshop.

Remember Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS of 2024? I miss it already. 2024 was such a great year for skygazing. Total solar eclipse! Northern lights! Comet!
The total solar eclipse was quite something. It was on a Monday—the day after my birthday—and the spousal unit surprised me by taking the day off so he could take me to the path of totality, about 1.5 hour drive south from where we live. It was totally worth it. I was completely unprepared so all my photos from the event are crap, but I have it all in my memory.
Things seem to only go downhill after 2024, don't they?
