If my mom had been as long-lived as my dad, she'd be around for today, her 100th birthday. Sadly, she died at age 80 from pancreatic cancer.

Still miss you, Mom.

My children Between the past and the present

I'm not sure why there was a bucket of water in the garden, but this chap clearly approved.

The recent trends in AI and anti-AI sentiment remind me of Battlestar Galactica.

Due to the advanced capabilities of the Cylons (AI), the Galactica's response was to go full retro tech.

Cylons can't infiltrate air-gapped ships and air-gapped computers.

Sure, their ship was "legacy" by the time the conflict started but the "legacy" aspect is what saved everyone.

Makes me wonder what the future of tech has in store for us, and how many might go full retro tech in response.

The former “Refugio” (Air raid shelter) built to protect residents from the bombs dropped by fascist forces during the Spanish Civil War.

This photo is from April 2017. The linked article says that it was renovated and opened as a community space in 2018. It looks like the steel doors seen in the photo might have been a first step in the restoration.
