  1. Due to a completely random water meter reading, I've been forced to engage the Borg, or rather, a well-known utility company that rhymes with 'heaven sent'. The contact options were telephone (9-5), WhatsApp, or letter. Neither of the first two were an option, so I wrote them a letter at the non-trivial expense of a stamp. I did go to the trouble of completing the website feedback form however, giving them a 2 out of 10 and the benefit of my opinion. I just received an email back. Note that they do have an email address after all, but they don't put it on their website. Hmmm.

    Letter follows:

Thank you for your feedback. I completely understand your frustration, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused. We currently have a backlog with letters, which is why we suggested using WhatsApp—it’s generally quicker and helps us respond sooner.

However, we do also have an email option available if that’s more suitable for you. You can reach us at [email protected], and we’ll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience and are working to improve our service and accessibility.

My interpretation of that is that they don't have enough staff to answer emails or letters, they hope you'll give up before you get to the front of the phone queue, and that the ChatBot might be able to get rid of you without any human intervention required.
