I'm a fan of organic farming. I am *not* happy to learn this.
Finding less-toxic food is complicated and getting more so.

I find that it's often extremely counterintuitive which foods are most contaminated.
Pathways and levels of #PFAS, #microplastics, heavy metals and pesticides are all different. Just because a# food is good in one area of concern is not a green light across the board.
Most info sources focus on a single class of toxins and do give the big picture.
I'd love to live in a world with fewer toxins in the food supply & regulation by gov'ts (vs individual efforts to find less toxic foods.)

Die Deutsche Umwelthilfe kritisiert den Einsatz des #PFAS-Kältemittels 1234yf in Auto-Klimaanlagen.
Es wird in der Atmosphäre nahezu vollständig zu TFA abgebaut, das sich in der Umwelt anreichert und als fortpflanzungsgefährdend eingestuft ist. Bei einer Abfrage unter 16 Autoherstellern fehlten überwiegend konkrete Ausstiegspläne. Die DUH fordert den Umstieg auf PFAS-freie Alternativen wie CO2 oder Propan.

Lyon : un PFAS toxique… remplacé par un autre
« Fin juillet, la préfecture du Rhône a donné son autorisation à la société Daikin d’introduire dans son procédé industriel un nouveau PFAS, le R1234YF, supposé moins dangereux que le HFP qu’il remplace (...).
Le gaz réfrigérant R1234YF se dégrade en TFA (acide trifluoroacétique), le plus petit des PFAS reprotoxique qui envahit déjà notre environnement et notre eau potable.
« Dans la vallée de la chimie, près de Lyon, l’environnement est fortement contaminé par les PFAS (“polluants éternels”). En cause notamment, la présence d’industriels, comme les sociétés Arkema et Daikin, qui en rejettent massivement. »
De quoi susciter l’inquiétude des associations de riverains, telles que les collectifs PFAS contre Terre et Bien Vivre à Pierre-Bénite.

The need for efficient and tunable filtering for things like #pfas, #pesticides and #nitrates is obvious, especially in light of ongoing corporate malfeasance by Big Ag generally, and #Monsanto specifically.
