  1. 🧐 Oh, look! Another groundbreaking revelation that we don't actually need 🤯. Mariam Rokhvadze bravely challenges the tech cult of #vector #databases, which apparently have become the magical solution to everything from finding a sock to world peace 🙄. Spoiler: Maybe all you need is a search bar that doesn't hate your users, not a fancy database. 💡

  5. 🚀 Announcing Jido 2.0: The Elixir agent framework that's mostly just a search bar in fancy cosplay. 🔍✨ With revolutionary "Attempting to reconnect" features, it's like your WiFi on a bad day but with more #documentation and none of the actual connecting. 🙃

  19. Ah, yes, the quintessential "Modern Linux Tools" article—a dazzling showcase of navigating the depths of irrelevance and waffle. 🐧✨ One can only marvel at the Linux users' unyielding dedication to mastering the dark art of search bar initialization, whilst pretending to game dev. 🎮🤦‍♂️

  23. And I think so worst UX change in #ios26 is the placement or rather random appearance (at least it feels like it) of the f*ing #SearchBar holy shit!!!
    In calendar it’s a button on the top, in the contact app a full bar AT THE BOTTOM, but in contacts list in the phone App it is a bar AT THE TOP.

    Fuck apple get your shit together.

  26. No answere. Oh well. 🤷
    Meanwhile, I found and adapted a repository with CSS to hide most of #Kagi AI stuff.

    /* Hide most "AI" stuff */
    /* Inspired by codeberg.org/zerodogg/kagi-no- */
    #assistant,
    #accountContainer a[href^="/summarizer"],
    #accountContainer a[href="/fastgpt"],
    ._0_summarize_link,
    hr:has(+ ._0_summarize_page),
    ._0_summarize_page,
    ._0_discuss_document,
    .search_form_box:has(#searchBar:placeholder-shown) .newsRedirect,
    .auto_item:has([*|href="#bolt"])
    { display: none !important }

    I also found out there's an option to disable the assistant for children. So it seems very doable if only they wanted to give the option to all their customers.

  30. My mom showed me her Facebook search bar last week. Apparently, FB is putting AI chat bots in it's search bar, which sadly is making it more difficult to search as we used to. The feature has yet to roll out on my Facebook, but I'm kind of dreading when it does. [/thread]

  36. I just upgraded #firefox and I'm not impressed.

    Dear #Mozilla. The URL bar is the most prominent UI element in the browser. You made sure it's always in my face, and I'm glad for it.

    So why are you making it hard to read? Don't cripple it with low contrast.

    Make up your minds: either make the URL field great or make it hidden.

    The following userChrome.css undoes this braindead change:

    #urlbar-background, #searchbar {
    background-color: Field !important;
    }

    #browser #design #lowcontrast
