Wouldn't it be good if there was some kind of cataloguing on Fedi that means whenever you mention a movie, tv show or book, it allows you to tag data on that thing so a kind of alt text appears telling you what the hell that movie, TV show or book is.

That would save me a lot of time.

Or make me less likely to skip posts.

By entering my mas.to url into the address bar, I noticed a notification of someone who had requested to follow me.

For some reason this request hadn't shown up in the normal mastodon window spread thing - (or perhaps it's called the Mastodon 'Array' in reference to the oft-spoken word in Voyager)

But also: I don't have a locked account so normally people don't need to request.

So idk.

So ... I'm thinking the ability to block replies is more powerful than #blocking accounts and I think #Fediverse platforms should all include this facility.

And what if you could use the #filter facility in conjunction with reply-blocking to automatically block certain (usually harmful) words?

Both these features would need to be used with good old fashioned blocking, of course. But I think this is an essential feature the Fediverse is missing.

Well, I was thinking ...

As far as I know, if someone comments and you block them, their comment still exists, linked to your post.

But shouldn't it be that if you block them, their comment is disassociated with your post? So their comment remains, just not linked to your post.

I think that would help a lot of folk out, so they can control what content their posts promote.

I notice a lot with #commentators and #activists on the #left: They point out the failings of centrist politician, point out the hypocrisies, etc.

But instead of solidly opposing those people as being as ideologically different, the left often call for them to change, or to join their plight.

It's as if people on the left think centrists politicians are just poorly informed rather than people who have chosen who they want to serve.

Two things that have slowed my #Mastodon growth since the whole #Twitter #Elon thing:

1. Loads of popular ex-Twitter accounts hogging all the attention and generally being more interesting than me. I think #hashtags you use tend to get more drowned out now by more people using the same ones.

2. I no longer use #AdvancedMode all the time because of all the extra users have made things go a bit slowmo. So I don't see random stuff on the #FediTimeline much anymore
