  1. A wee patch of #primroses in a large area of primroses on the south side of the #Sidlaws on our dog walk this morning. All in #summer warmth and a warm breeze for a change.

  2. According to a Scottish legend, if you want to see a fairy, you must eat a primrose, or rub primrose oil on your eyelids. Some ancient Druids thought that standing in a large swathe of primroses gave you passage to fairyland.

Some farmers used to put primroses in their cowsheds to stop fairies stealing the milk, or braided them into the manes of horses for protection. We have never had any trouble from the fairies.

  5. A cake for Spring and sun warmth and cold wind and bright light.

  6. The early purple #orchid contingent was putting on a wonderful show alongside the #bluebells (and the last of the #primroses) in this classic Cornish #hedgerow earlier #today.

I recall that these orchids were very rare hereabouts during my #1970s childhood. Improved hedgerow management, decreased pesticide use, and an improved general awareness of these gorgeous plants really seems to have made a difference 💚

  7. So cold yesterday, really felt it in the bones. Milder this a.m. Small and Medium #Dogs took me up the hill to the churchyard, where #primroses are starting. We were welcomed graciously by #daffodill drifts. #ClimateDiary #Shropshire
