Even if it is sometimes difficult, there may be pleasures, satisfactions and joys that make the negatives worthwhile.
Who is it a "gamble" for? The bearer or the born? I would say both. Gamble or not, it may also be an act of love.
You cannot ask consent from a person who does not exist. There may be many reasons not to bring a child into this world, but not obtaining consent from a nonexistent child is not one of them.

Just spent some time checking out this artist's website, and there are a lot more like this. Really impressive that they can communicate this thing in this way, which I don't think I will do justice with words. but something like primal and primate instinct and security. Maybe something about our social nature and survival. I'm taking those orbs to be breastish. Really love the weird little alien face, little kids are so cute but their weird little alien minds are strange to watch working, and I guess probably all of us are like that, we're better at lying about it. I don't know if I'm making sense and I guess it doesn't matter 🤣

I wrote about post mortem prenatal ventilation, and how it was a slippery slope that, if allowed, would remove all autonomy from any pregnant person.
And we have seen that play out over and over with dead women, but now we’re seeing it with live women. These women had good reasons to not want surgery, the hospital didn’t even offer her an advocate, just pushed her, MUTED, while in labor, into a hearing where a bunch of men got to decide how she was going to give birth.
Y’all, it may be time for a Lysistrata strike. No rights, no beast with two backs. No more shall we point our slippers toward the sky for men who are not our allies. Want babies? Get out of my uterus.

I, who know perfectly well I am not capable of caring for children, choose not to have children. "Passing on" my mental illness / disorders (like autism) isn't even a consideration - if I could care for a child, I would care for them, NO MATTER WHAT - but I do not have the stamina or energy or emotional resources or capacity or any other fucking thing in sufficient amounts to raise even the most normal, "easy" child - SO I DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN.
AND SOMEHOW THAT'S A "BAD" THING.But over here, you have severely mentally ill people AND/OR severely cruel and vicious and dangerous people who have caused SO MUCH HARM to other adults in their lives - never mind children - who are SO FUCKING DESPERATE to pass on their genetic material that they are undergoing FERTILITY TREATMENTS. And successfully getting pregnant.

AND SOMEHOW THAT'S A "BAD" THING.But over here, you have severely mentally ill people AND/OR severely cruel and vicious and dangerous people who have caused SO MUCH HARM to other adults in their lives - never mind children - who are SO FUCKING DESPERATE to pass on their genetic material that they are undergoing FERTILITY TREATMENTS. And successfully getting pregnant.
