My community driven @thekhronosgroup GPU hardware databases for #Vulkan, #OpenGL, #OpenGLES and #OpenCL recently hit the 50,000 reports milestone.

@randomgeek #Apple’s priorities center around their own SoCs across mobile, set-top, desktop, and now #XR.

The first version of their #MetalAPI was available to #iOS developers nine months before and shipped with #IOS8 six months before #Vulkan was even announced.

#OpenGL 4.1 on #macOS and #OpenGLES 3.0 on iOS and #iPadOS are still available but were deprecated in favor of #Metal five years ago.

I think it’s less a matter of keeping up and more about not wanting to wait.
