i need y'all to understand #AbortionBans, blessed by the Republican-controlled #SCOTUS are de facto declarations of secession.

USA is now controlled from #SCOTUS by a new #Confederacy. when i use #Neoconfederate to describe the southern fascist states, am doing it because, just as with the first confederacy, this second one used the courts and shady state legislation to defend their slaveocracy.

remember that the Confederacy made more money breeding slaves than selling cash crops.

@gwynnion The GOP has spent the better part of my 71 yrs fomenting racial fear/resentment in the white population that was always primed to be easy marks for such moves. Their whole party is now a movement to restore the ideals of the Confederacy.
During that time the #DemocraticParty spent most of it ceding ground to an #Oligarchy that only strengthened the far right #NeoConfederate GOP. Now they attempt to fight back with a senile warmonger with his own racist past.

@chrisgeidner Red States are mostly well on the way to being fully #ChristoFascist. Seems likely that even with #DemocraticParty wins in Nov, this nation will continue an unraveling process that began with the #GOP adoption of a #NeoConfederate ideology decades ago.

I've never had an audience of more than a few at a time, but have harped on the creeping #ChristoFascism most of my life. Growing up to be a long-haired hippie (wanabe? I followed a traditional ed path) in rural super-white, super-Christian county, it has always seemed obvious to me as that base of the GOP was seduced by the #NeoConfederate infusion after the Civil/Voting Rights wins of the 50s-60s.

It was later used to represent all of the #Confederate forces, starting with its adoption as the symbol of the United Confederate Veterans. From there, it became recognized as a symbol of the Confederacy in general, and later the South, yet more generally. Today, the flag is popular with southerners and non-southerners alike, who claim the flag represents their "heritage" and doesn't have any racist connotations at all. It is also popular with admitted racists, white supremacists, and alt-righters, who don't even try to deny its racist connotations.

I notice that there is a general uneasiness in the mainstream press about the parallel between the election of the House Speaker in the 1850s and now.
