New article about the career of Joshua Caleb Sutter as both an FBI informant and a leading figure in neo-nazi satanism over the past 20 years or so. His efforts have helped fuel the nazi accelerationist movement of recent years (Atomwaffen Division, The Base, etc.) and also an extremely vicious subculture of child predators.

The FBI has never addressed Sutter’s role in fueling violent far-right ideology. But the blowback from Sutter’s actions over the past decade is a feature, not a bug, of American law enforcement’s use of confidential informants, says Alexandra Natapoff, a professor at Harvard Law School who has studied the topic extensively for more than 15 years. “The informant market is run on this tacit, uncomfortable understanding that the cure sometimes might be worse than the disease,” Natapoff tells WIRED. By utilizing people with criminal or extremist histories to infiltrate hard-to-penetrate milieus like gangs, organized crime, or terrorist groups, she explains, the US government rewards such people for continuing to swim in the same waters.
“Baked into that arrangement is the well-understood, avoidable phenomenon that these individuals are going to commit criminal acts,” Natapoff says. “The FBI has authorized criminal and unauthorized criminal activity by confidential human sources, and the mere fact that those guidelines have those definitions is a recognition about the nature of informants.”
According to a New York University Law School study, 41 percent of all federal terrorism cases after 9/11 involve the use of a confidential source. Per a former FBI operative quoted in Natapoff’s milestone study of informants, Snitching, “You can’t get from A to B without an informant.” It’s an arrangement Natapoff calls “a deal with the devil.”

one thing i think about when reading this horrifying article (which, i recommend you read too) is how the FBI has spent many years funding the creation & distribution of their informant Joshua Caleb Sutter’s esoteric neo-nazi “Temple Ov Blood” o9a propaganda, apparently without ever wondering whether it might be effective enough to have unintended consequences (particularly once the fascist movements operating under the #MAGA umbrella began to emerge).

The FBI has arrested the alleged founder of a group affiliated with the Order of Nine Angels (O9A), a well known accelerationist neo-Nazi sect. He's charged with possession of child porn, and if the court docs have any basis in reality, I suspect additional charges will follow.
These people are about the worst, and some of the details in the filings are just horrifying. I really hope that the kids they've harmed can get whatever help and support they need. Ugh...
Less importantly: This probably goes without saying for just about anyone who will actually see this, but, regardless of what the prosecutors might think, O9A is "a satanic anarchist group" in about the same way that Hernán Cortés was a messenger of Christian love. In the prosecutor's own words: "O9A advocates 'culling,' a form of human sacrifice, to eliminate Jews, people of color, and others deemed to be inferior under their Social Darwinist views, as well as rape and sexual assault as a means of asserting domination, breaking social norms, and propagating the expansion of the white race." However one may feel about anarchism or anarchists, there's really no way that any of this can honestly be considered acceptable to anyone who has put even the slightest effort into anarchist theory or practice. If nothing else, that whole "as a means of asserting domination" thing should've given it away. But then prosecutors don't have a great track record of representing anarchists in the most honest way, so... (I don't know a whole lot about satanists, so they'll have to straighten that part out themselves. Or not.)
