Okay. #Firefish geht nun endgültig seinem Ende entgegen. 😔
Jetzt wird's knifflig. Meine nächste Instanz sollte möglichst sicher vor solchem $foo sein.
Eigentlich bietet sich da natürlich #Mastodon an, aber damit werde ich einfach nicht mehr warm.
Wenn man so Instanzen wie Firefish und auch #Pleroma hatte, dann fühlt sich das alles sehr "klein" und fizzelig an.
Klar, gibt immer mehr coole Features bei Mastodon, aber in dem eigentlichen Feature, Texte ins Fediverse zu stellen, fühlt man sich doch sehr künstlich beschränkt.
Was bleibt? #Miskey?
Evtl noch #Sharkey, weil die im Havarie Fall einfache Migration zu Miskey versprechen?
Ehrlich gesagt habe ich recht wenig Bock, mir überhaupt um so was wieder Gedanken machen zu müssen. Evtl sollte ich wieder zurück auf eine "Fremdinstanz" gehen?

It may be the case that now #ivory is one of the BEST #mastodon apps for #iOS (iPhone, iPad) and #macos on #apple hardware.
If @ivory manages to include more #fediverse services such as #miskey, #firefish and #sharkey IVORY could become THE fediverse tool on Apple devices ... :-)
One service that should be included is #pixelfed as alternative to #instagram ...

There are not so many mobile apps available to date for #miskey or #sharkey. A user at mastodon social has sent me this app/app developer.
At the moment I am using #iOS again but this app is for #android.
Does anyone have some experience with this app? Please write me. Thanks in advance ... :-)

Bluesky is relatively new but they managed to achieve over 5 million users since its start.
This is not to be underestimated.
In comparison, #mastodon is being used by about 15 million users to date. Not to speak about different #fedeverse services like #miskey and #sharkey where you can have a similar yet better user experience but with a lack of app support.

Ich zahle übrigens auch gerne für Anwendungen, die ich nutze.
So setze ich auf iPad, iPhone und Mac die #mastodon app #ibory von @ivory ein und zahle jährlich.
Wenn es also in 5 Jahren, so lange bin ich schon hier. keine Apps für verschiedene Dienste im Fediverse gibt, dann vielleicht weniger, weil sich das nicht lohnt, sondern vielmehr, weil Programmierer entweder zu bequem sind oder nicht fähig, ihre Leistungen zu monetarisieren ...

Irgendwie klappt der Link nicht von überall aus dem #fediverse. Was auch ein wenig bezeichnend ist. -
@masterhajoda 1. MASSIVER lag! Der geht von Mastodon Social aus.
2. KEINE Kommunikation mit den Usern. Kaum Infos etc.
Dass das besser geht, zeigen andere Server-Inhaber jeden Tag.
Dass es zu wenige Apps für die ganzen Dienste im #fediverse gibt (noch immer!), ist dann noch mal ein Thema für sich.
Es gibt für #bluesky inzwischen mehrere Apps, nicht aber für #miskey, #sharkey etc. und vorhandene Apps sind nicht kompatibel. Völlig unverständlich.
Bin jetzt mehr als 2 Jahre hier. Wird übler.

I think the worst thing with the #fediverse actually is that you are unable to move your whole #mastodon account to a different server.
You can do that using a #miskey or #sharkey server but then you have no APPS for mobile devices you can count on!
This plays in the hand of the mastodon social company which is a German GmbH. Their administrators do not communicate with their users whatsoever! A #mastodon monopoly is about to be created here.
Moving #mastodon accounts must be possible! ...

I am so excited to release my 2nd video on the #fediverse. The idea behind this video was to show within 3 minutes how you can sign up for your own #mastodon account without needing to know anything about how #activitypub works or any of the other concepts about it. I simply wanted to showcase how easy it was to switch away from #twitter or #x.
For those that want a peek behind the curtain I also show off the magic of the fediverse by letting you know how you can interact and follow other users using completely different #websites or #software like #firefish. I also showcase #fedidb at the end and encourage users to look into #miskey #lemmy #kbin #pixlefed and more!
If you know anyone on the fence about switching, maybe this video will encourage them to give the fediverse a try!
This is why you DON'T need a Master's Degree in Computer Science to get a Mastodon account!

@ajroach42 I suppose it would depend on what purpose it would serve.
For microblogging I would still go with #Hometown for being a mild Masto variant with a couple extra nice features and a maintainer who is more on my wavelength than Eugen. Apart from that maybe try #Akkoma for being a bit lighter but I am still wary if the dev community behind it... #Miskey and its derivatives are neat but seem to me to place more stress on the browser than any other front end (it makes my #pinephone run VERY hot lol)
#Peertube is still the go-to for video but IMO it does little on its own to "foster community" if that makes any sense...but you probably know what it takes to do that with #NETV
#Pixelfed looks compelling for picture/media sharing...might try that one out since it's #MadeInAlberta :blobcheeky:
Perhaps #WriteFreely for long form blogging but like Peertube it seems difficult to get traction for some reason.
Ultimately though given unlimited time I would probably make my own BBS/fourm style fedi app!
