When visiting a user profile on Pixelix, a small icon at the top is indicating the Fediverse software which the profile is using. This icon can be clicked to open a dialog with more information about the software and the server.

Previous versions of Pixelix fetched this data from FediDB. With our latest Pixelix update we exchanged the FediDB dependency with our own service called FediSea.

To initially fill the software table of the database we used the data in the "software.json" file of communityDB (FediDB).

We know that there are multiple similar services out there (FediDB, Fediverse Observer, ...).
The real reason we came up with that project is more the interest in the developing aspects.

We always wanted to create some kind of crawler and check out the Rust language. That's why we are writing the crawler in Rust.

Another thing we always wanted to learn is Spring Boot. So we are using it for our API.

Już czwarty serwer, z 30 użytkownikami jest w Warszawie. Otwieram stronę i co?

Why are people not active on the Fediverse?

Less than 10% of the Fediverse users stay active (and tbh: it would be nice to see, how many percentage of the 10% are bots @fedidb is that possible to calculate?)

Why is that? too boring timeline because of no algorithm? too bad UI/UX?

Innerhalb eines föderierten Systems - ja, genau, in diesem Fall ist natürlich vom föderierten #Universum, dem #Fediverse, die Rede - ist es naturgemäß schwierig, einen vollständigen Überblick über Größe, Nutzerstatistiken und technische Details zu erhalten.

Mehrere Projekte sind im #Fediversum unterwegs und sammeln Daten von den einzelnen Instanzen.

Dazu zählt auch #FediDB, welches vom #Pixelfed-Team betrieben wird.

Gesammelte Daten werden grafisch dargestellt und liefern so einen Einblick über Zahlen von Nutzenden, Anzahl von Servern und eingesetzter (serverseitiger) #Software. Auch populäre Konten werden gelistet.

Wohlgemerkt, es handelt sich um eine Sicht auf Basis der zur Verfügung stehenden Daten des Statistiksammlers. Andere erhobene Statistiken mögen davon abweichen.

@dansup A month ago, I asked when #FediDB would update, and, as I recall, you said it was supposed to do so on the first of each month.

We on the #Fediverse often think of our competitors as #Bluesky or #Twitter, but the real activity these days is with #Threads. Today, they announced 150M DAUs [0], which compares with 4.1M for Bluesky and 132M for Twitter.

(I'm not sure what the DAU figure would be for the Fediverse; #FediDB gives 900k MAUs.)

Of all those competitors, Threads is the most friendly towards the Fediverse.
