@rmstyle IMHO the best on #ios are the obvious ones, #Ivory (the fastest, feels very snappy) and #Mona, but both require a few bucks.

I have been a long time on Mastodon, and with my iPhone I have switched between clients before I ended up on Ivory. With the switch to Jolla Phone as my primary phone I’ve started tooting more and more from Tooter β (https://openrepos.net/content/molan/tooter-v). This brilliant client has more or less all the features I need. I have also activated the built-in Mastodon Account Integration for SailfishOS for toots in the Notification window.

Hi friends, I need help finding a masto client that doesn't suck. When I was on iOS I used #ivory and it was fantastic, but now that I'm on #grapheneos I'm struggling to find a replacement. I have been bouncing between apps and it's frustrating.

I've been using #phanpy and #elk the most, and while I like them there are real frustrations using a PWA that I'm getting tired of. #vanadium (the grapheneos browser) doesn't actually install apps as PWAs, just as bookmarks, so push notifications don't open in the app, and links to masto don't open in app either.

What are you using and why would I want to use it too?

I have been having difficulty connecting to Mstdn.Science the past few days, and I really really missed you guys. Has anyone else had trouble? It worked briefly yesterday morning and this morning. Hopefully it won’t go out again? I had difficulties with just accessing via browser and on my phone via #Ivory.

I have a #mastodon usage question, specifically related to posting. Recently, I've seen a few folks using quote callouts in their posts (I'm using #Ivory, but it renders in the web client as well). I always want to ask the author, but I don't wanna be the one who ruins the bit.

I've tried using the standard Markdown blockquote syntax, and have been met with disappointment.

What dark magic is this? What necromancy does one utter, and at what cost (denominated in seagulls, of which I have many)?

Every interface@to #Mastodon has its@positives and negatives. #ivory which I use on my iPad, has the worst interface/UI for refreshing hour feed. It also has a crummy UI for ALT TEXT.
Go figure.

Well Indigo app fixed my biggest pain point with @ivory - when I tapped the top of the app by accident, the feed jumped, but there is an undo button. Happens to me all the time. #indigoapp #ivory

Frustrado por no poder usar mi instancia desde el teléfono, puse a prueba la app de #Ivory y funciona muy bien, sin problemas en las notificaciones y de ningún tipo.

I use #Ivory as my Mastodon interface, and a niggling annoyance has been that it just wouldn’t translate certain foreign language posts. Finnish, for example. It would give me a “language not supported” message, and I’d have to copy the post and paste it into Kagi Translate. Not a great hardship, but slightly annoying.

Today, I went looking and found an Ivory setting that referred to using my server translation service instead of Apple’s. Flipped that on… problem solved. 😁👍

Nearly one year after iOS 26 there is no Update of #Ivory @ivory available.

Is somebody else having problems with video playback in @ivory #ivory?

I have video playback when a video is embedded in a post in my timeline or list, but no sound. I click on the video to actually watch it, it opens in the “fullscreen mode”, is showing the controls but nothing happens. No matter if I press play, 10s forward or using the time slider the video does not play. 😔

Sometimes it working though. Is this some data streaming/latency issue and lack of user feedback?

Did you try https://Phanpy.social ? #Phanpy is great. For iOS #Ivory is also really good.

#Phanpy does a great job of this. If a user taps translate, it will auto-detect language and do it right below the post. No need to click anything when the poster correctly tags their language (very rare). #Ivory should steal this logic imho. With new AI integration more languages should be translatable and auto detect should get cheaper for lingering on a post for automated translation.
