CW: Yet another eclipse photo
This is not exactly a photo of the eclipse but a stroke of luck with a lens flare which somehow reflected the eclipse.
Taken as the Sun was setting behind the Jura, at 20:08, well before the maxima, it was the last chance…
Still think it is a particular shot. -
CW: Rainbow over the Jura
Beautiful rainbow over the Jura, the true beauty of the world on display this morning.
Taken in #Meyrin.

Really fun problem I did a couple of weeks ago.

The Mt. Blanc, finally after days of pouring rain, as seen from Meyrin, Switzerland.

The world is still beautiful: the Crête de Cheney, right towards the end of the valley in which Geneva is sited and the home of Fort l’Ecluse down its slope towards the gorges of the Rhône.
I will never tire of the view from my horrid 11-storey apartment block from the late ‘70s, asbestos included in the outrageous rent.

Went for a walk in the fields between Meyrin and the French border and took photos.
These are those which I think are more interesting - there's the Crête de la Neige in the Jura, again, with the remains of yesterday's snowfall (and the CERN 132kV power lines from France…) and another taken towards Mont Crozet, always in the Jura. Finally a field of rapeseed close up with a particularly interesting sky with filaments of clouds giving it what I find is a curious perspective effect.
I remain amazed at how you can take decent pictures with an iPhone..

Unseasonal snow on the #Jura, snow line down to an altitude of 1000 metres, contrasting with a beautiful yellow field of flowering rapeseed. A delicate line of puffy clouds as a scarf to the mountains.

A photo of the "Lac des Vernes" in Meyrin, Switzerland. It is an artificial lake created to channel all "greywater" from drains, etc. and part of it is a natural reserve to help migrating birds.

"Beauty and Brutalism" - a flowering tree with a backdrop of the Brutalist architecture of Meyrin.

CW: The “Mt. Blanc des américains”
In Geneva we have the problem that lots of tourists are told you can see the Mt. Blanc from the city which is technically true if you append the caveat “on a clear day”.
On a cloudy day like today you can forget it so the tourist guides point to Le Môle¹ which is rather closer and, helpfully snow-topped during most Winters (less so recently, as you can imagine).
So here you go, a photo of “Le Mt. Blanc des américains”¹ for your enjoyment taken from #Meyrin.

¹ for those who didn’t get the subtle French: the insinuation is that US tourists can be taken for a ride. -
CW: Early morning photos (Jura & Mt. Blanc)
This morning the weather is very cold & dry, ideal for some spectacular photos.
The first one is the "usual" Crête de la Neige on the #Jura seen from #Meyrin (#Switzerland), the second one is the Mt. Blanc with the Sun rising behind it…

CW: The Mt. Blanc through the clouds
I took these photos a few days ago from Meyrin (Switzerland) when, during a pause in a pretty strong storm, the Mt. Blanc appeared amongst the clouds in all its majesty.
It is a somewhat poignant photo because, later that day, I read that two alpinists had died 200m from the summit in the same storm.

CW: Sunday #photography: sunflowers and Jura
Just the fields with the Jura this morning.
