Notice the coloring of whole characters or squares when only some pixels are drawn near it.

I guess it's due to some memory sensitive graphics color encoding in that KC-85/4, maybe @floooh can explain it, afair the #KC85/4 is his second home.

(Geloest, siehe Thread) Ich brauche mal #DDR Spielehistoriker. Fuer den #KC85/3 gab es ein Spiel, in welchem man mit einer Figur mit Pistole, aehnlich zu Indiana Jones in einer Pyramide herumschlich und nicht die Geister beruehren durfte. Besonderheit des Spiels war, dass es nicht flimmerte, da der Entwicker die Updates mit dem Takt des Bildschirmspeichers abgestimmt hatte.

Schöner Podcast, sehr interessantes Gespräch, aber, ehm, irgendwann sagt Andi Arbeit: „Und ich glaub, bei so Akademikereltern stellt sich dann ja auch raus, dass der Vater – wie man sich kaum vorstellen kann – irgendwelche Programmiersprachen kann, mit denen er dann bis in LA irgendwelche wilden Software-Programme irgendwie entwirft und wo man sich auch fragt: Mein Gott, woher konnte der das? In Jena oder irgendwo in irgend ner Uni hat er dann C+ oder C++, ich weiß auch nicht genau, wie die heißt, alles Mögliche gelernt, was ihn dazu befähigt hat, überhaupt dieses Leben zu führen.“

Und ich dachte, ich fall vom Hocker. Vielleicht habe ich etwas überreagiert, aber hier ist der Blog-Post, der daraus entstanden ist. Es ist eigentlich eine Geschichte der #Informatik in der #DDR anhand meiner Familie geworden.

Yesterday the computing machinery, parts of the library, and research documents of Horst Völz has been transfered to the #ComputerMuseum in @Oldenburg as a donation from him.

Now his theoretical and practical works on #cybernetics, #InformationTheory, #ComputerArts, and #ComputerScience (especially on #BASIC programming for the #KC85 computers) are preserved for the future. I am very happy that Völz made the Vorlass to the museum he visited several times in the past.

I had a #C64 with a very limited BASIC that could not do any graphics or sounds (without resorting to something even less comfortable than assemby – numeric peeks and pokes).

One day my parents took me to friends whose son had an #Atari 800XL. I was blown away by how easy it was to get sounds out of that computer using pure BASIC!

All of this happed in the old DDR (GDR), so officially, these home computers did not exist.

The story of how I got hold of a machine language manual for the C64 is agent story material. It involved a meeting at the gate of VEB Mikroelektronik Wilhelm Pieck, Mühlhausen, where the East German home computer #KC85/3 was in production at that time.
