Misschien naar een opticien waar ze brillen met #Zeiss-glazen verkopen en daarom Zeiss-fotoapparatuur ik de winkel hebben staan?

Die standaard oogmetingen zijn vrij foutgevoelig en zeggen niks over de afstand van je ogen tot je brilglas.

Bij #Brillenliefde in #Utrecht bijvoorbeeld krijg je eerst de standaard oogmeting. Daarna mag je in een apparaat stappen waar er vanuit een halve boog foto's van je hoofd genomen wordt. Dan gaat de opticiën op haar tablet elke foto langs om daarop aan te geven waar de bolling van je ogen zit. Dat verschilt namelijk per persoon. Die combinatie van afstand van je oog tot de bril en de uitslag van de oogmeting zorgt voor vrij accurate brillenglazen.

Yesterday we talked to an old friend who just came back from a longer trip to China and Taiwan. A family-visit actually.

That triggered my inner slide projector. But those days when I was there +35 years ago are long gone. The city and the county as a whole looks and works a lot different.

I never scanned all my slides, but some I found now in the depth of my archives. All of these show working people in or near a park in Beijing. Therefore I called that little series (there are some more) "Work in China" published under "The human Condition" - like we editors handle things.

I was on my own, just with my cameras Contax RTS I+II, Zeiss-glass and my journalistic eye - and speaking almost no chinese. No problem. It was great. There is not one stolen shot, BTW.

I have extremely positive memories especially concerning genuine, friendly people I met in person. That was amazing. And the fantastic food anyway. Sidenote: That has been my personal experience all over the world.

(I wish I could say that for some encounters in the digital web-world nowadays as well.)
