La porte-parole du gouvernement Fatemeh Mohajerani a confirmé que l'accès international ne sera pas restauré avant au moins fin mars. Filterwatch, qui surveille la censure d'internet en Iran depuis le Texas, cite des sources gouvernementales, dont Mohajerani, affirmant que l'accès "ne reviendra jamais à sa forme précédente".
C'est ce qui rend la tentative de l'Iran unique : d'autres États autoritaires ont construit des murs avant que leurs populations ne se connectent.
L'Iran tente de boucler une économie connectée déjà en chute libre.
