  1. I converted an old model I had made with #gCAD3D over to #SurfacePsycho. I think there's nothing better than Surface Psycho for designing #hulls. I tried remaking it with Moi3D and other #CAD programs like Plasticity and FreeCAD, and the only two that really satisfied me were gCAD3D and SP. but SP is much better than gCAD3D for this task, you have total control.
All the other add an unnecessary amount of CVs, while Moi3D is the only one that actually causes deformations. #opensource

  6. Out of all the free programs for NURBS modeling that I've tried, there are only two that are harder to use than #SurfacePsycho: #Ayam and #gCAD3D. Ayam is limited when it comes to exporting, but it has a ton of tools; gCAD3D, on the other hand, is seriously powerful, it's lightweight, and to model with it you have to use APT a sort of G-code.#CAD #opensource

  12. #gCAD3D saved me many times, is a small application that open #DXFs the older versions, but save files into #IGES or #STEP and permit me to works with plans of others, sometime is hard to opens file from other but in somewhat this small application heal those messy #CADs, it is only 1.7mb, it opens also STEP or IGES but isn't always the best way, but many times is the only way.

  21. My tiny has recently been updated to version 2.60, very useful when others fail in certain operations I do, it has some defects, but it is powerful if used in the correct way with many functions and installed it occupies only 1.8MB ;)
For or is needed this dependencies "libgtkgl2.0-1" to make it working, is under rewrite of some part but works with it until the update of# of the export code.

  25. Sometimes I try them all but in the end even if has its flaws it remains the only one that manages to export or files that can be opened by , I'm talking about drawings, I have to do so many of these steps it's incredible that , or Cad Assistant all fail and a 1.3mb program does the job just fine.

  29. People underestimate , but it's very powerful and very small, a bit difficult to use, the best way is to use it via code, and it's not difficult, but it's also a great tool to do some small conversions from to , save into IGES or STEP, many times it handles CAD files very well and better than FreeCAD.

  37. Here is a quick demonstration of a hull created directly in from curves which I however made in with APT CNC code.
This application is simple to use and to learn especially those who know how to use will have no problems.

  50. Reading better the documentations I learned uses (Automatically Programmed Tool) an old language first appeared in 1956.

Apt is non-proprietary. It was developed at MIT with cooperation of industry and funded in part by the US Air Force. It is defined by the ANSI standard NCITS 37-1999. Most Apt compilers , however, are proprietary.

  54. If you have time to learn this is another great CAD, very simple but also so powerful. Is a that struggled me at beginning but now I understood and I like it. This is a Whitehall row boats. Totally done with manual inserting via code.
gCAD3D works well with step file and if you have a or a STEP you can Inspect the code and learn how make surface via coding.
    Don't underestimate the power of gCAD3D 😎
