  1. Made some simple pork belly burnt ends with sticky sauce. Just grabbed a regular "generic rub" to start off, and used the most generic BBQ sauce I had laying around. I added a little sugar to the sauce to make it sweet, which goes well with the (cherry) smoked pork belly.

  2. Finally had some decent weather to try out some #BBQ shenanigans! Today (actually, yesterday) it became pasta from the BBQ. Specifically, cannelloni filled with minced meat and cheese, wrapped in bacon, and finished with a li'l brushing of bbq sauce. I hope to have brought great honour to #Italy with this dish.

The minced meat can use some significant improving, it was a tad bland for my tastes. If the weather allows, I'd like to do another try soon, with minced meat that suits the advanced palettes of me and my fiancee better. If I can get it to somewhere I'd be happy to serve my friends, I'll write down a recipe for it as well.

  3. Bit late on posting, but I did #noodles a few days ago~ Underneath this mass of veggies and chicken there are some Samyang habanero lime flavoured noodles. The entire bowl was too much food, in hindsight, but everything in it was still very good the next day as a breakfast meal.

Its been a while since I did a #BBQ project, perhaps I should plan one Soon™️.

  5. I recently learned about "sup buah", or Indonesian fruit soup. So I made some myself, turns out its pretty delicious, and cools you down on hot days. The fruit you use is up to you, in my case its galia melon, canteloupe melon, jazz apple, and red grapes. For the liquid I was told to mix condensed milk with water, but I cheated and used Real(tm) milk instead of water. This makes it a bit creamier, which I personally like. If you want to go even creamier, you can add a little bit of, well, cream. And add some ice cubes at the end to keep it ice cold while you consume it!

  6. Had some leftovers from a bbq party last weekend, so yesterday I had to eat some noodles with bavette steak. The noodles were given some extra rawit to give it a little spicyness. The bavette steak had been given some SSPPGG rub and rested 2 nights, then cooked in a cast-iron skillet. The noodles were freshly imported from #Indonesia, and cooked "nyemek" style as I have been told it is called by my fiancee.

  7. Made some spareribs yesterday, with a kecap based sauce. The kecap in question was my first time making my own kecap at home, and it turned out pretty well. I think I can increase the sweetness, but indo gf was extremely happy about the flavour in general. Apparently it tastes like the fave she had back in #Indonesia, kalkun kecap manis.

  8. Pineapple fried rice, served in actual pineapple.

I had this in #Indonesia, and was very impressed. This week I happened to have a pineapple that I didn't know what to do with, yet, and some leftover rice from two days ago.

Getting the edible pineapple out of the shell was a bit finicky, but with the appropriate knife and some hard work, I got it out mostly as a single piece. Then cut it up, and made fried rice as usual but with pineapple. Served with some refried char siu, cucumber slices, and sweet and sour acar.

  9. Yesterday's sauerkraut noodles were quite disappointing, but today I tried char siu from the kamado bbq. This turned out pretty damn good for a first try. The char siu has marinated for about 30 hours, before cooking it in about three and a half hours. Sliced it up, and served it with some grilled courgette with kecap, saffron rice, and sweet and sour acar.

  10. It has become the sauerkraut flavour.

I added a boiled egg (boiled a bit too far for my preferences), cucumber slices, crispy fried pork belly, and a bunch of stir-fried veggies (red onion, smoked garlic, brown mushroom, courgette). I also added a little Japanese bowl topping, which consists shredded seaweed and toasted black sesame seeds.

  11. Tried out my rotisserie basket for chicken wings today. Its a remarkably easy way to get deliciously grilled chicken wings. The rub and sauce were great as well!

  12. Yesterday's lunch consisted of rice with a hint of saffron, topped with fried onions; wokked veggies in the form of red onion, smoked garlic, rawit, courgette, soy sauce, fish sauce, and ketjap; fried slices of pork belly. I served it with a small glass of sake.

If the weather keeps up today I'll be trying a new recipe for chicken wings.

  13. Tonight's lunch is more of the bacon from yesterday. This time, the slices have been fried up, and put on toasted sourdough bread. I also added a pinch of carolina reaper pepper to give it a nice li'l spicy kick.

  14. Today's lunch was also pretty beany, but this time with homemade smoked pork belly from the BBQ.

  21. You ever have one of those days where you try something new in the kitchen, and end up just hitting it OUT OF THE PARK somehow? That was today for me.

I had a ton of lentils in the fridge that needed eating up, so I processed them into veggie "meat" balls, fried them up, and had them with leftover naan and a little plain yogurt. The bowl on the bottom here has a kale/cabbage salad with ginger dressing, cut up halo mandarins, and pecans from my tree outside. It was amazing.
