First-time visit this afternoon to “Take it easy COFFEE”, a shop that opened earlier this year in the Shimo-Akatsuka area of Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward. The iced Soy Latte from their home-roasted espresso blend was quite satisfying, and the accompanying chocolate chip cookie provided a nice, not overly sweet balance. ☕️🍪

I brought my "home away from home" attitude to cafe life from Australia to Sweden and have passed it on to my children. I realise now that it developed in Sydney in the 1990s:

"Uno Cafe" near Katori Jingū is a place that we had discovered on our first visit last year. Established in 1937, the place has a quirky and unique interior that feels very homely. Their specialty sweets are Kusadango, and they make an absolute banger of a Caffe Latte from their own roast (I brought back a small bag to enjoy their flavorful coffee at home over the next couple of days). ☕️

The Gaslight Cafe
The Greenwich Village coffeehouse opened in 1958. Originally it was a "basket house" where unpaid performers would pass around a basket at the end of each set in order to be paid. The cafe became a gathering place for beatniks, artists, poets, and folk singers with a large variety of performances.

I had some consular stuff to do early yesterday morning at the German embassy in Hiroo, which gave me an opportunity to take a stroll (and some photos) in the adjacent Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park. Had left home on an empty stomach, so afterwards headed to the nearby “HauS Bake & Cafe” and tried their “Special Morning Plate” which was quite satisfying.😋

During last weekend’s trip to Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture, this was the Sunday lunch spot: “Cafe Suzunone” in Kyū-Karuizawa, smack dab in the middle of the forest. Atmospheric place with pretty good food.

I really like Black Hole Sun.
I'm primarily a soul, jazz, disco, cocktail kinda person but there were some grunge bangers I like.
There's a guy here in the Cafe and he looks so cozy in his fuzzy pullover.
