Today is the day. Finally committed all the edits on my next book, which means I am now looking for an editor.
After having given my book 2 pass throughs, it's time to give it to a fresh set of eyes. Looking for someone who does a mix of line editing and content editing, and is affordable.
Who I'm looking for: An editor who is knowledgeable about North American football. I like working with women and fellow queers. Won't mind establishing a good working relationship for future books.
About the book: This book is a sapphic sport romance with 51,343 words. It is book 1 of my new series about various individuals in a fictional football league that's primarily comprised of women and trans individuals. This book is centered on a 20-something US football player of Mexican descent who gets injured, which puts her in a identity crisis of sorts. She falls for her physical therapist who is a black woman in her late 20s/early-30s. The plot is about how my MC handles losing her dream job while falling in love.

One of the most common errors I fix when editing is known as false attraction, a form of subject–verb disagreement
Here's an example of what I mean, in a recent (and well-written) article in The Atlantic: "Research into such conditions are grossly underfunded"

Editing is a human skill, one that by necessity needs an iterative process between humans. AI isn't capable of that to the degree needed to produce a quality result. I wrote this article after a writer I know tried to "self-edit" his work-- only to end up with 10K copies of a horribly messed-up book.
If you want to be a professional writer, you simply CANNOT "self-edit." Editing software (such as #Grammarly) helps, but even the best AI still can't match the skilled eye of an editor.
"Cheap" costs money in the end.
