Apparently I spoke too soon yesterday. Busy day today delivering office catering, cured meats. We’re increasingly helping local businesses get their goods to their customers, where it is difficult for vans to get to on the High Street, Leith, and the New and Old Towns. We also delivered tea from PekoeTea to the Witchery, and 24 loaves of bread and focaccia to our friends at New Leaf Coop.

It has been fairly quiet this week, so far we have made 4 catering deliveries, including the two today pictured to Atria One and the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute. We also bought lunch, consisting of soup and main courses, to the Heart of Newhaven Community Centre, and cured meat to the Belfry.

Lina's birthday parcel is off on its way to the Philippines... fingers crossed it actually gets there, always a worrying few days whilst in transit... the dicey bit 'starts' with the customs at Manila airport, then gets more dodgy at each stage after. The UK originated service might be 'DPD' but the parcel won't arrive at her house, in a tiny rural barangay, by anything remotely resembling a shiny DPD van! 😂

I love how courier companies have mastered the art of “over promising and under delivering".

Today's example is “Couriers and Freight" who updated the tracking on my package to state that delivery would be in 30 minutes ... over 2 hours ago 🤦🏻‍♂️

Dear courier companies. The letterbox is right there.

There is nowhere in this universe where this standard of "delivery" is considered acceptable. FIX IT! FFS - employ more drivers if they don't have time to do the job properly.🤦 Delivery would have been faster, and much less "couldn't be arsed" had it been chucked in the regular post. Probably cheaper, too.🤬

I'm not happy (understatement) with DHL.
Apparently they "couldn't access my address" this evening.
In truth I'm pretty sure the driver was running late and thought 'sod it, let's take this back to the depot'.

I've written to the sender, and filled in a comment on the DHL website - neither of which will result in any resolution.

I rarely have the courier issues other people report, so this is frustrating particularly as I thought DHL were on the reputable side of crap.

COURIERS: Stop asking "How did we do?" every single time you deliver something.

If the thing was delivered, congratulations, well done on participating, have a sticker. No medal because delivering things is your raison d'etre, after all. It's what we pay you for.

If it was damaged, broken, late or not delivered at all - THEN ask me how you did. I will gladly explain in short, easy to understand words.

I have a parcel due. Only one, although I have a few on order. Today, I've had updates from the seller, Star Track, Shippit, & Auspost, & still aren't 100% sure they're all for the same thing.

Shippit provides a map. No no no, not for live tracking my parcel, which would be really useful, & is completely doable (see Uber, Didi, etc). No, it appears to be showing me where *I* live. Phew. I was worried I'd forget.

Oh well, could be Couriers Please or [shudders] Aramex 😱

For those of you collecting reasons why Yodel has failed to deliver a parcel.... this one was new to me:

'We regret to inform you that our carrier experienced some delivery incidences with all the orders shipped the last few days of November and unfortunately it seems that your order was affected by this issue'....

Which means what I wonder; I have refund coming, but I wonder where the shipment is?

I don't often hear favourable noises about courier companies, but my local Evri driver is a friendly chap, known in the neighbourhood, likes my dog... and despite Amazon's ETA being Monday, somehow he got my new audio recorder unit to me, through the snows of Storm Bert, and followed instructions via doorbell, on Saturday.

Glad they asked for feedback on the delivery. He deserved his 5* writeup.

There is one issue though, bike #couriers are providing the same service as the truck drivers do elsewhere. But they are more #exposed to the #elements and more in danger in #traffic However, even if he unions claim they should be under the same #CLA, they get paid a lot less and have far less benefits. Ecology shouldn't deregulate the job market. Remember, it's #ClimateJustice
