  1. My batch of baba ghanoush from the back of the fridge still tastes great.

But I run out of bread.

  3. I know.
    I am aware of the #firstworldproblems & #privilege
But the emergency coffee beans, before our regular supply arrives, are awful.
    They taste burnt, bitter.

  4. Accidentally an hour too early at a doctor’s appointment and I forgot to bring something to read. Again. 🙄

I’m ALMOST bored enough to read one of the magazines provided in the waiting area, even though I’m not too interested in cars, sports, or old German celebrities.

Well, maybe the reactionary women’s magazine has some nice recipes. 🤔

  6. Is it just a Safari on iOS thing that when I read a long article and get back to it after a few hours, the browser reloads the page and scrolls to the top?

  10. I'm sitting in my office with a pair of Giro bike gloves on, hoping that after a wash and some wear they will stretch a little and not cut into the gap between ring and middle finger. They fit fine otherwise.

  12. We're using an IKEA baking tray to organize our breakfast stuff in the fridge. Makes it much easier to get all the stuff in and out at once.
However, my wife wasn't happy with how to sort all the stuff in in an accessible way.
So here's my solution: a 3d printed insert with movable dividers that allows us to arrange the packages vertical, making each of them accessible without having to lift others.

  17. I would love to have a way to sync my Kindle, the Xteink X4, and my audiobook app.

Being able to jump from one device to the next depending on the circumstances is awesome and super convenient, but manually finding the point at which I am on the book every time I swap is a bit of a pain in the ass

  21. Ah, the Vision Pro - the Swiss Army knife of *not using it a ton* 🤦‍♂️. Apparently, its coolest use is helping folks decide where to put their #IKEA #shelves during their first-world problem of building a house 🏡. Who knew spatial computing was the key to home decor dilemmas? 🙄

  23. #FirstWorldProblems now that I've "gotten up from shiva" (week of formal mourning following Mom's funeral is over) and I'm going back to work (from home) tomorrow, I'd like to take my motorcycle out to get lunch tomorrow in the expected beautiful weather, but we have so much left over of the good food that kind people brought us during shiva that it would be woefully irresponsible not to eat in. D'oh.

  27. Back to work after a week off. Time to dig out of the inbox, and catch up on everything I missed. Sometimes I think returning from PTO is the worst part. Not because I don't want to go to work (i really do enjoy what I do for a living) but because nothing actually stops while you're gone. Its probably worse for folks with more dependencies riding on them, but its still not great even at my level.

But first, my Macbook has to give me grief. I use a dock, to connect to two external displays, and the laptop itself sits with its lid closed. I had the audacity to shut it down when I logged off on Friday before my PTO. This morning, not only is there no way to turn the dang thing on without pulling it out of the little shelf its in, but... That dock it spends 95% of its life connected to? The one that gives it all of its input and output... Yea, I have to allow it to connect, which means holding the laptop on my palm while i turn it on, wait for it to completely boot, login, and then plug it into the dock and click.. Allow, before I can use my keyboard, mouse, and displays. Seriously. I get it, malicious devices are a thing. but the dock i use all the dang time?

    Sigh.

  29. For my work calendar, I like a whole-work-week view. The fact that Google Calendar doesn't let you specify a time range to display – meaning my work-hours are vertically scrunched into 1/3 of the vertical space and 2/3 of the space will always be empty – is really annoying. It makes me unhappy every time I have to look at my calendar. Especially since they have "Working Hours" setting but it is only used for people sending you meeting invites.

  34. What the Dickens?

When someone describes a first world problem, I like to reply "Dreadful, that's like something out of Dickens" shake my head & walk off … I would have made a great Disney villain.

  35. I was going to equip another Raspberry Pi with a thermometer to monitor temperatures in one of the kids' rooms, but I cannot find any.

Wait?! I ran out of Raspberry Pis?!

At some point, I felt like I had so many that I couldn't even count them... now it seems I have exactly 7 (3 at work, monitoring climate, plus 4 here - 2 monitoring, 1 Kodi, 1 OpenHabian)

when you remove every possible wrinkle from your face at 67, you erase all the wisdom of those years. her turning to this cult thing (not kaballah or spiritualism itself, but the guru new age stuff) feels cringy
