“You probably drive a Skoda,” he said. His voice brimming with the kind of bottomless contempt only a preteen can deliver (with alarming precision).
What led up to this, in itself, horrific statement can best be described as a sort of petty, medieval inquisition. Questions raining down in an utterly relentless tone. My defence had already been dismissed before the trial had even begun. 😅
And it soon became clear that I – objectively speaking – possess absolutely no reasonable grounds for refusing to buy him a Moncler jacket.
“What kind of loving parent even does that?” Especially when, according to him, I “can afford it”.
(Not entirely untrue, granted. But that is partly because I do not make a habit of buying jackets in that price range. I have, however, now been informed that this does NOT qualify as a valid argument.)
So, in his defence, it’s perhaps not surprising that he felt provoked. 🫣
Particularly as he is now – by his own account – condemned to freeze all winter. Wandering around Ekerö like a Victorian street urchin, selling matches. Possibly also sitting outside ICA begging. Reports vary.
It is, of course, a dreadful and deeply unjust situation. His distress is entirely understandable.
And yet.
To claim that I drive a Skoda… that does feel as though he crossed a line. We do, after all, live in a civilised (well, more or less) society. One cannot simply say anything one likes.
So… AITA? 😅

So that post last night regarding #FirstWorldProblems at #Publix with their app being down and not being able to access my BOGO shopping list…
App was back online this morning. Pleased my memory didn't completely fail me. Only missed 3 items I'd have passed on anyway:
Potato chips—no flavors I wanted
Ketchup—forgot I still have a large new bottle, don't need a new one yet considering we don't use a lot of ketchup at home
Hummus—wife didn't want more right now, and I don't like hummus

Why do monitors have partial rotation? Why is it not "locked horizontal" and "locked vertical"?

So, I've had glasses since the 3rd grade, amd my vision is pretty stable, I did have to switch to progressive lenses.
But, when I have to shave, or cut my hair (what's left of it!) I cannot see well enough with the glasses on or off to see my whole head/face!
It's a struggle. I also can't grow a proper beard, so letting g grow wild is not ideal...
Sigh. 🙂

Hurrah!
My replacement NBN box lasted almost three weeks! No really close lightning, no blackouts. I was using it, decided to unplug. Too late, by the time I got there it was faulting. No internet. Sigh? Back to [shudder] 4G. 😭
Sure, the box isn't flashing red this time, but it may as well be.
Does FTTP have this problem? 🤔

Yesterday the dishwasher was not full and therefore it did not run... My medium bowls are not clean, I had to use a big bowl to pickle the vegetables...The refrigerator is not magnetic, so the magnets don't stick there, but the dishwasher is...

Help! Need iPhone/iTunes assistance.
Music transferred to iPhone from cd (way back when) isn’t transferring over onto my iTunes.
I’d like to put a new cd onto my iPhone via iTunes but am concerned that if I synced with the library, I’ll lose all my older cd music (as not on the computer/itunes).How much do I miss just being able to drag and drop music onto my phone!!!

I hate that I have to shop at Walmart sometimes, the destroyer of small town downtowns and local businesses. I hate that they had everything I had on my shopping list today. They had stuff my regular grocery store should carry but is always out of. And they carry the brand of precooked bacon my wife prefers.
