Es gibt eine Reihe „Alltags“-#Fahrräder, die mehr als 8000 € kosten, und so viel kostet auch ein 45 km/h Auto. Aber nicht nur die möchte mensch natürlich auch vernünftig gegen #Diebstahl absichern. Hier ein sehr langer Thread, was denn da möglich ist. Mein persönlicher Tipp: Das Fahrrad über eine Versicherung komplett absichern. Am günstigsten macht das i. d. R. die Hausratversicherung. Ob es da einen Rabatt für eingebaute Diebstahlsicherungen z. B. von Bosch gibt, weiß ich nicht. #Cargobike

He prepares two fillings a day in a communal kitchen, loads his bike, rides to a inner city location, and sets up for business, with a special hot plate to make fresh wraps.

First ride after tube replacement went well. I checked all the tire pressures. I knew some would need it because I checked the good front tire yesterday and it was down. And then my mini-compressor needed charging again before I could get to the desired pressure. But the one installed yesterday and pumped by hand by the mech was a bit low as well, and the rear one needed more.
Hard as rocks ride (I wish I could have afforded full suspension), but no flats!

@ascentale From the answer, it sounded to me like speed/acceleration is a factor. That is, motorization makes it so the rim can go faster than the tube is going unless you create more friction that grabs the tube. #BikeNite #BikeTooter #Cycling #CargoBike #Recumbent

My GF has a #Chike #cargobike she bought as car replacement but doesn't use it much. And since I know I can ride my #Brompton Electric G-Line with studded tires all winter and not just on snowy or icy days, my Mr. #Winterbrompton kinda got unemployed. And I have an old foldable bike trailer I dislike for its hitch.

How do you package a #Bakfiets? Very slowly and very painfully, especially if your office/shop/showroom is on the first floor. This one’s currently travelling to a customer in Croatia.
Fun fact: most of the packaging material I used was recycled from whatever other packages I’ve received. The only exception are two rolls of cling film (I had to start the second as the first one’s got stuck), some sellotape and a bunch of cable ties.

Gestern Abend nach Feierabend noch zur #CycleWeek #rausgeschafft. Viele interessante Sachen und Stände, die ich mit Fragen nerven könnte, gesehen. Die meisten Stände waren aber schon zu oder grade am zumachen. Trotzdem noch einige nette Gespräche gehabt, u.a. beim #Cargobike-Hersteller #SuperMighty mit ihrem #Lastenrad-#Laufrad.
Im Anschluss dann noch bei der #CriticalMass #Zürich mitgefahren. Ging bis nach 23 Uhr. Bin zuhause platt und in Klamotten ins Bett gefallen.

This time I write about a spontaneous informative shelter building performance at the Transition Town seedmarket and about free to lend cargobikes in Bielefeld...
I am contacting possible cooperation partners and present my masters project "Common Shelter" at local events. I reached one milestone: I successfully completed all necessary seminars at HSBI to start my last semester: From may 2026 I want to have a public shelter construction site as part of my masters project and i want to build real shelters. At the "Transition Town" Bielefeld seedmarket on march the 1st I started small:
I build a shelter model from recycled wood sticks (as shown on the image) and later put it on my info table. There was also a big Infosheet, flyers and a small 3D printed shelter model my lecturer Prof. Edith Kollath gave me as a gift. I had good talks with visitors and people working at the seedmarket that was organized by "Transition Town" Bielefeld.
"Transition Town" is a multicountry initiative for climatefriendly energy and local transformation. In Bielefeld it initiated repair cafés, community gardens and free cargobikes. At their infotable i found an interesting postcard about "Fleet Bielefeld" (in german "Flotte"):
"Free cargo and transportbikes in Bielefeld. Cargobikes, parallel tandem, riksha – the Flotte Bielefeld counts 17 bikes and one folding bike. They are free to use (donation appreciated) – use not own. The Flotte Bielefeld is a network of different cargobike projects and together working for the transformation of traffic." (my translation)

One of my artistic ideas for the shelter construction site is that we together search resources for building and possibly use the free cargobikes to get them... e.g. gifted stones for the shelter legs and old pallets for the sleeping area.

Help !
Demain j'ai un marché de créateur·rice·s à 2km de chez moi.
Du coup j'ai loué un vélo cargo pour transporter mes présentoirs, mes créations et... ma table ! (Dans l'énorme housse sur les photos)
Sauf que je ne vois pas comment je pourrais transporter la table 😬
Elle fait 1m60 de long dans sa housse et pèse 15kg.
Je pèse 53kg toute mouillée, impossible pour moi de conduire le vélo avec 30kg dans la caisse et la table en travers au-dessus (perpendiculaire au vélo), trop instable avec le poids sur les côtés. En plus je serais beaucoup trop large et devrais rouler sur la route sur tout le long du chemin (certes pas long, mais suffisant pour me faire mettre en danger par des automobilistes pressé·e·s).
Je voulais la mettre en longueur au-dessus de la caisse, mais si je laisse l'espace suffisant pour pouvoir tourner le guidon, + de la moitié de la longueur de la table dépasse dans la vide, à l'avant de la caisse (le dessus de la caisse est qui plus est un peu penché vers l'avant).
Du coup faudrait que je sangle super bien la table pour qu'elle tienne et ne glisse pas vers l'avant... (sur la dernière photo, je tiens le bout de la table qui est vers l'arrière du vélo, sinon elle bascule).Des idées de comment bien l'attacher ?
Ou d'autres idées de comment la transporter ?J'ai une remorque, mais elle est trop petite, la table ne rentre qu'à un tiers, c'est pas une option...
Au début je me disais qu'au pire je ferai 2 allers retours, pas grave.
Mais là, même avec la caisse vide je ne vois pas comment ramener ma table 😅

J'ADORE mon cargo !
Mais il y a un truc que je trouve pas pratique : je n'ai pas d'appui à l'avant pour poser un truc long. Pire : ça s'appuie sur la direction, c'est pas stable et ça fait une résistance pour tourner.Je voulais donc fabriquer un petit truc que je mettrais à l'avant qui pourrait me servir d'appui.
Un collègue cherchait un truc à bricoler aujourd'hui et m'a proposé qu'on réfléchisse à une solution ensemble. Et voilà ce qu'on a trouvé !
J'ai pas encore pu l'essayer, mais ça a l'air bien pratique. En plus, je peux le mettre et l'enlever hyper facilement, et ça tient très bien tout seul sans fixation. Parfait ! Je suis trop contente et j'ai hâte de l'essayer pour faire du #carryshitolympics !!

Started moving instruments today. One load of saxophones - I'd rather expected the baritone and its bulky case to be pretty much a load by itself. But it, three altos, three stands, and a case full of accessories all packed nicely into a single trip, along with a couple boxes.

I’m thinking about putting a larger chainring on my #LarryVsHarry #cargoBike. It has a 36T (and a smaller one; it’s a 2x). The smallest cog is 11T, giving me a max ratio of 3.3. Maybe I should try 38, 39, or 40T.

Während dem Warten auf die Montage des neuen Hinterreifen am Brompton bin ich nebenan bei #FlincCycles https://flinccycles.com/de deren 20" #Cargobike probegefahren. Gefällt sehr, nur ist der Lenker (in der höchsten Position wegen meiner 10% kürzeren Arme) bei 20kg Last vorne drauf dann doch recht am wobbeln, vor allem beim einhändig Abbiegen. Aber ansonsten ist's auch mit Beladung angenehm flink mit der 11-Gang #Alfine.
Und die Baustellenabsperrungen vor dem Laden stimmten mit "WELO" auch fast.
