  7. Follow the short instructions from Figma to install the Figma MCP server in Claude Code.

I installed the Figma MCP server for the first time yesterday and was surprised by a few things that were different from installs I've done in the past.

    * Install starts in Claude Code with the /plugin command
    * Sign in through /plugin, too
    * The install provides options to install just for you or for everyone in your repo

  9. Few people have advanced the craft and management of #contentDesign as much as Melanie Seibert. She's been designing content experiences and managing design teams decades. She shares some of her best insights in her new book, "Managing Content Design Teams."

Melanie was one of my earliest guests on this pod. It was great to reconnect and hear her freshest insights. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did.

I also handled the paperwork for bringing in a #contentDesign freelancer and worked on our family of user-centred design disciplines.

They could be business owners, CEOs, accountants, finance directors, department heads, or any other individual within an organisation. And, being real people, there are a whole range of different needs and situations we need to consider when writing for them."

  19. "As a former content designer, I get frustrated when content is thrown into projects at the last minute as an afterthought. Content design isn’t just about copywriting. It’s about using the most appropriate content format to help people do what they need to do. It’s a skill that requires and understanding of user behaviour, analytics and user needs. Content can make or break your website."

  27. I see people asking "I have #UI skills, how do I get better at #UXDesign?" My answer is: learn #ContentDesign.

You can't hide behind whizbang styling when your medium is text. It becomes obvious that the copy is the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the work is in the information architecture that lies beneath. You stop thinking in screens, and start thinking in systems.

UI/copy is just a touchpoint of the system. You still have to design the system underneath and between the touchpoints.

  31. Designers are always inventing new titles. Web designer, UI designer, UX designer, UX/UI designer, Product designer, UX/AI designer (???)

    These are all the same!

As long as your work is mediated entirely by Figma and Jira, you are just a production artist.

Fighting with PMs over who "gets" to do strategy (usually: neither of you) won't help you. Lean into the core #design skills of architecture and maintenance. #UX #servicedesign #contentdesign #uxdesign #tech

  33. Design is a leadership skill. Within the mandate you already have, create the opportunity to design one piece of excellence. And use that as a stepping stone to win over the skeptics.

Same with Google Docs and other apps.

Use the built-in styles for headings.

Using the heading styles has several benefits:

    • That text is formatted like a heading.

    • Heading tagged for screen readers.

    • Auto-included in table of contents.

  37. 🔘 Content folks love lists. 💜 Here’s one for the #ContentDesign crowd at #Button2025. You’re probably following a few of these people already, but if you need more content content in your feed, follow along to your heart’s content. Adding to the list as we go… go.bsky.app/G9JpDXA

  38. I’ve seen it too many times: layouts that look beautiful but say… nothing. The colors pop, the typography sings, but the message? Hollow.

That’s the danger of design without purpose. If design doesn’t communicate, what’s the point?
