  11. The more services people need to interact with, the worse their experience gets. The satisfaction drops by 30 percentage points when 5 or more touchpoints are part of the journey. #ServiceDesign #GovDesign

  12. How to work with the Iceberg model and beyond - a well prepared workshop by Diana Hidalgo, Andreea Ardelean & Jeffrey Allen with tangible exercise cases and sharing of experiences 💚

The case reminds me a lot to the main female character portrayed in the movie „I, Daniel Blake“

  13. Wonderful to be here in Helsinki with many peers. Kara Kane and Martin Jordan talk about "The Power of Community - collectively dealing with the long slog of government transformation" 💚

  14. The organisation team, and everyone involved have done an awesome job in preparing our International Design in Government Helsinki Conference 2024 ❤️

The programme is of an immense richness: international.gov-design.com/h

Tomorrow (Wednesday) we attendees can register for sessions, workshops ..

Where should I go, and share what I've learned afterwards with my local peers in Switzerland ?

  15. In 2018, freshly started as a civil servant, I was lucky enough to meet many inspiring peers at the 1st International Design in Government gathering in 🇬🇧.

The exchange beyond 🇨🇭 has helped me immensely in the years that followed. Sometimes already a "cheer up" from a colleague on the other side of the Atlantic was enough.

This autumn, the community will meet in 🇫🇮 on the topic of ‚Systems change and futures‘.

Cheer up!, dear friends 🔄 🌍, and see you soon.

  16. What's so important about GOV.UK Forms is how thoughtfully they're going about it. So for example the editor UI is simple and accessible. And it's opinionated - it helps users who don't have a lot of experience with tech or design produce good quality forms.

  21. Let’s meet, #GovDesign folks!

Right before the huge Service Design Network Global Conference kicks off in the heart of Berlin, we’re having a small in-person community gathering on Wednesday, 4 October, at our office.

👋 Join us if you’re a community member or work in any public sector org anywhere in the world and are in town:

  22. Communities of Practice are core to digital transformation in the public sector — not a nice-to-have add-on.

On Monday, 21 August, Imran Hussain from the GOV.UK Design System and Mathea Essinger from the NExT Network will discuss building and designing with communities of practice in our international #GovDesign call.

  23. One thing per page is one of the most powerful design patterns we have. It makes it so much easier for people to understand a page, to resolve any errors and only see the pages and questions that are relevant to them. If research says it's better to combine some questions, do that, but it's a great start point.

  24. So wholesome:

People on Reddit praising the existence of @GOVUK — giving evidence to the positive impact of #GovDesign & #GovTech work on people’s lives reddit.com/r/BritishSuccess/co

  25. Small but important update to the GOV.UK Design System guidance:

    > Accept month names written out in full or abbreviated form (for example, ‘january’ or ‘jan’) as some users may enter months in this way.

This came from quant data on Apply for teacher training service, showing that many people did this.

It also follows our error validation guidance: "accept information in different formats, as long as it’s not ambiguous"

    Good work @frankieroberto !

  26. In case you #GovDesign-ers haven’t filled your autumn calendars and spent your learning budget:

Kara and I will discuss the long slog of public #ServiceDesign at the ‘Service Design in Government’ conference in Edinburgh this September. We’re currently conducting further research on it.

    Join us there!

  27. 6 years and a pandemic later—this is how things that are ok to do at the UK Government Digital Service changed.

The original poster was written by @gilest and designed by @soniaturcotte in 2016, and updated in 2022.

  28. We've published a new GOV.UK Prototype Kit guide: Change the content within a page based on a user’s answers

  29. GOV.UK Design System have released an extremely important new component: Exit this page. Give users a way to quickly and safely exit a service, website or application.
