  1. @morfil Dunno. I'm not "leftish", I'm an anarchist, sooo I'm rather for: stop pointing to others, stop sitting on your hands, get mature, get #selfsufficient, and organize your neigborhood for #communityResilience based on #mutualHelp.

  2. There's a model of change most of us absorbed without noticing — that the world divides into those who have what's needed and those who don't, and the work is to move resources across that gap. It's a generous impulse but it also normalizes the distance it's trying to close.

  3. There's a quality of attention some creatures carry naturally — present in the world, belonging to it without having to try. We lived inside that for most of our existence as a species. The larger family of life has always included us. The question is whether we remember it.

  4. There's a version of meaningful work that looks clean in the telling — the clear vision, the steady progress. And then there are the days when the mud is just mud, the days when it's oddly satisfying, the days when it feels like too much. All of it the same journey, moving toward something that tends to reveal itself along the way.

  5. Most of what we've built rests on an assumption so old we've stopped noticing it's there — that the world is made of things to be used rather than beings to be in relationship with. Every belonging problem, every fair-share failure, flows from that single misapprehension.

  6. There's a particular exhaustion that comes from feeling too small for what's needed. But complex systems don't shift from the top down, all at once — they shift the way forests grow, each part living fully, and the whole changing because of it.

  7. The work that doesn't make headlines, the connections that don't scale, the care given without guarantee of return — there's a question worth sitting with about what radical actually looks like when you're inside it rather than watching from a distance.

  9. After the first season or the third year, a question surfaces: what would it look like for the place you're tending to hold you in return? For care to accumulate as something that carries the caregiver back?

  17. Collapse is hitting our sector, and Ben names what many in purpose-driven work already feel: the old economy is thinning, and relational alternatives are emerging in the cracks.

Farmastery + Lifeboat Academy are prototypes of those alternatives. To get through this lean season, two supports matter:
    • contributions
    • consulting referrals for Ben

  19. We don't have gas at home but major damage was caused to a gas main yesterday 12 miles away so 3500 properties have been without gas since about 4pm. As someone trying to nudge town council and others to get organised about #EmergencyPlanning and #ExtremeWeather response and general #CommunityResilience it has been interesting to observe what happened. Official response from Northern Gas Networks took about 3 hours and in the meantime plumbers, and people like me were getting lots of calls from older people asking what was going on. When I tried to call the advice number the AI bot on the website directed me to, they had no info and could just confirm gas was off in our area which was something I already knew. When they did arrive in town the gas folk were excellent, set up an HQ at a local hotel and been visiting houses and giving out info and switching gas off if need be. A customer support centre, heaters and now hot food are available from the hotel. The pipe is now repaired and they are beginning to reconnect houses and checking door to door. Many of the older folk we work with grew up on farms with no electricity or running water so they have been absolutely fine and just wrapped up well.. food places and pubs generally stayed open with a limited menu - all pubs and the railway station have real fires and have been offering warmth to anyone who needed it. Several people offered firewood and coal deliveries or hot food or (electric) showers so feels like it's been a bit of a gentle 'trial run' for a local community emergency and a heartwarming reminder that in a crisis - round here at least - people generally want to help each other. northerngasnetworks.co.uk/inci
