It's funny that the #CloudStrike blunder might have indirectly contributed to #Linux #game (anti-cheat) compatibility, with people like #RiotGames saying that they will follow #Microsoft/#Windows 's lead/security recommendations - even if it means their anti-cheat solution receding from the kernel space. #EA would probably follow suit too.

The #tech community has #SelfCensored itself on the #israeli #terrorism on #Lebanon (if not openly supported it).
Many of these people and organisations who rage against #malware, #datatheft in #ai, #drm, importance of #opensource have suddenly gone quiet about the deadliest use of tech ever!
When #CloudStrike stranded people in airports everyone was up in arms against private monopoly. Monopoly on #TechTerror by a rougue State is somehow just fine.
Nothing on #handala revelations either! Shame -
And here it gets absurd. The #US government sues #GeorgiaTech for not using that #Endpoint bullshit "security" (like #Cloudstrike). ENDPOINT! You need ENDPOINT! To be compliant!!! Selling snake oil by suing...
It's the same like those "super male" hot air producers like Andrew Tate and others "ALPHA! You need to become ALPHA! You need to be ALPHA to get a woman and be successful! Pay our training with box sacks to become ALPHA"ENDPOINT and AI are the new "ALPHA!!!!!"

@dh3lix There’s some quite remarkable dirt on #Cloudflare there for sure.
So Cloudflare bullies their own customer by proxy, on behalf of #CloudStrike by pushing a frivilous #DMCA take-down demand. Because CF sees CloudStrike as having more muscle than their customer. After CF joins the Goliath side of the David vs. Goliath battle, CF ignores Senk’s responses and keeps proxying threats.
Senk bounced from Cloudflare and went to a provider who has his back. #ArsTechnica publishes Cloudflare’s conduct. As embarrassment hits Cloudflare and David (Senk) starts winning against Goliath (CloudStrike), CF changes their tune. Suddenly they are on Senk’s side, saying “come back, we’ll protect you -- we promise we didn’t get your messages”. LOL. Senk should do a parody site for Cloudflare too.
Senk’s mistake: leaving CF. He should have waited until CF actually booted him. Then that would have more thoroughly exposed CF’s shitty actions.
Interesting to note how a human on the side of civil rights who advocates decentralisation was treated with hostility by Cloudflare. Yet CF is fine with sheltering actual criminals.

Imaginge, you have a castle and want to protect yourself from the gruesome outside world. The problem, your gate is rotten and there are different sized holes in the walls. So you rent a guy that is standing and watching like a guard. If something happens, he will most likely kill you instead of the imposter who just got in.
That guy is #cloudstrike in the IT world. (And yes most companies look like this castle)

Interesting, so apparently the #CTO of #Cloudstrike is #GeorgeKurtz, the same CTO who oversaw the fiasco about 10 years ago when #McAfee #antivirus was falsely flagging a crucial system file within #Windows, and apparently he had been bragging about just how fast they were getting these updates out... Despite the fact that the updates in question included code that ran inside of kernel space at startup, meaning if they didn't run properly on any system that system would crash before it could even get to the login screen.
So clearly we know that there was some bad management involved, and while it was definitely not the fault of just one person, this offers us some insight into what the #management problem was: a focus on speed over carefulness, in a situation where a broad range of critical infrastructure could be crashed if a mistake was made.

Every time I see a major dependency make a mistake (take #cloudstrike for example), it reminds me that dependencies are a vulnerability, the more you have, the more people you trust with not breaking your code.
Treat dependency updates like pull requests, don't mindlessly update them, review the update and see what you are installing onto your machine.
Even if you don't update, small, unnecessary dependencies can still harm you.
Haven't we learned from left-pad?
