Während dessen ignoriert die Regierung ihre Klimaziele und rodet lieber Orte wie Lützerath und die Leinemasch, um den Kohleabbau und Straßenbau voranzutreiben!

Deutschlands Klimapolitik ist erbärmlich! Leere Versprechen, die dann sowieso nicht gehalten werden, reichen nicht mehr. Radikale Veränderungen sind unumgänglich, um unsere Zukunft zu sichern. Sofortiger Ausstieg aus fossilen Brennstoffen und drastische CO2-Maßnahmen – JETZT!

Last week we had an #AirSourceHeatPump #heating & hot water system installed to replace the gas boiler. We're snug at last. No more gas!

All new buildings should have these & I wish there were tax incentives to fit these in all homes.

The electricity used to power it comes (partly) from our #SolarPV panels. We're getting there...

This is absolutely astonishing! It only furthers my conviction that we need government intervention to do “moon shot” R&D programs on emerging technology like this, while meantime #rationing #gas and #Airtravel and #animalagriculture products like #beef. Rationing could bend #emissions down and buy us time while new power sources come online. #ClimateCrisis #ClimateRevolution

For US tooters, please note: On August 28, 1941, President Roosevelt's Executive Order 8875 created the Office of Price Administration (OPA). The OPA's main responsibility was to place a ceiling on prices of most goods, and to limit consumption by rationing. Americans received their first ration cards in May 1942.

President Biden could institute rationing of gas, beef, and air travel with an executive order. He should do that. #Emissions must COME DOWN.

If you have not, it is worth a read, if only to center your head and get comfortable with that sinking feeling that #COP27 was a crashing failure. That's not just your fears. That's what happened.

That said, IMHO, “we” have to do more than regret. Regret is understandable, but passive.

I intend to do everything I can to foment a massive (and peaceful) #ClimateRevolution - our leaders are clearly not acting in our best interests, and citizens of the world need to rise up en masse.

#COP27 is failing. At least 636 #FossilFuel lobbyists in attendance, including chief executives of BP and Total, plus incoming head of Shell.

And #ClimateJustice? Headed down the tubes. WaPo says: "... the fate of UN climate talks appeared in jeopardy as rich and poor nations continued to disagree on an array of issues, including compensation for harms caused by a warming world.”

We must save ourselves. Our "leaders" have utterly failed.

I'm thinking of everything we are losing. Human lives and livelihoods. Ecosystems. Beloved children, cherished homes, crops, coastlines, businesses, heirlooms, fishing stocks, entire species... all being pulverized in the insatiable maw of the #FossilFuel industry.

Just think of London: theatre, red double-decker buses, amazing cuisine, vibrant people, the Tower of London - 2000 years a city, perhaps soon to be inundated by catastrophic flooding...
