  1. @harblinger if to be short, it's next generation/fork of #CJDNS
on try, keep your ports closed by default ;)

  2. The ability to use multiple networks for running a Bitcoin node creates better resistance against censorship, filtering, and traffic analysis.

  3. #TIL about #cjdns

"An encrypted IPv6 network using public-key cryptography for address allocation and a distributed hash table for routing."

  4. @popolon I think our new page about Hyperboria and about Crem Road on Hyperboria sums up some quite interesting, how-to style things about the basis of #cjdns and Hyperboria, you may want to give it a read: cremroad.com/hyperboria/

  6. Are you on Hyperboria.net ? Cuz Crem Road is. WIP but mostly done and useful already. If you are #cjdns enabled, just point your browser to the 80 port of this soon-famous Hype IP address fc71:fa3a:414d:fe82:f465:369b:141a:f8c

  7. I have a new node hosted by August Internet. It runs #I2P, #Yggdrasil, #Alfis and #Hyperboria / #Cjdns. Seems to me like Cjdns has a bug when peering with IPv6 addresses though.

  8. @nicd sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. #Yggdrasil is a tun + routing protocol, kinda like #cjdns.

We have no proxy servers, we just point AAAA records to our laptops and make the requests from any machine in the world that runs #yggdrasil. If the laptops are running, the requests succeed. If the laptops aren't running, the requests fail.

The proxy comes into play if you want to have an uptime total to be equal to the union of the uptimes of all the laptops. *For that* you need a reverse proxy with active load balancing, yes.

  9. hyperboria is a collective network using @cjd 's #cjdns. It either the largest collective network of cjdns nodes or one of the others.

#yggdrasil is kind of a competitor to cjdns (but not compatible). They both do the same thing in that they both allow you to create ad-hoc mesh networks over any transport medium. (Wifi, bluetooth, zigbee, microwave, packet-radio, etc.) I mainly installed it just to see how it compared to cjdns.

#ipfs is the inter-planetary file-system. A distributed, p2p, mesh file storage application+CDN that operates on-top of the Internet. Every node is a cache for every other node and all files uploaded are distributed across the network. It's not filesharing in the typical sense, but it's filesharing in the fundamental (and root) sense. Google IPFS. It's huge and supported by big companies too including f/ex CloudFlare. It's nothing like "bittorrent" or other file sharing apps you may have heard of in the news.

Oh, forgot about the #tor exit node too.

I've got fiber internet with AT&T. Gotta use that bandwidth somehow. LOL
  10. @jvalleroy It has a few things in common with each of those, but is pretty distinct. #Yggdrasil is more similar to #cjdns and the #tinc VPN project. Compared with #Tor, strong anonymity is not a design goal of Yggdrasil, while performance and compatibility with existing software is. Yggdrasil may have some anonymity-enhancing properties over "mainnet", but not to the extent of Tor. However, they both share strong end-to-end encryption. 1/

  11. WOOOOOOO #cjdns finally runs for more than 30 seconds with the timer infrastructure rewritten with #Rust / #Tokio rather than #Libuv.
    😅

  12. github.com/cjdelisle/cjdns/pul

#cjdns first baby steps to getting rid of libuv. Thanks pktpal.com for sponsoring this work!

  13. @cjd Thank you for the clarification. I am just finding out about #cjdns and #yggdrasil. Have you done any interviews on the topic of #cjdns?

Are people hosting services like http and gopher on cjdns? Or am I misunderstanding the basic idea?

  14. Was ich heute wiedergefunden und darüber gefreut habe: #cjdns

  15. #web3 will not be only blockchain-based.

It will primarily be about P2P connectivity over protocols like #cjdns and #yggdrasil and will lead to a significant decrease of Big Tech's market share.

    #nochain

  16. @aral Alternatives to #TLS [thread]

    1/
There are lots of alternatives to TLS out there. At the protocol layer, things such as #Yggdrasil and #ipsec can make things secure. #Yggdrasil, like @cjd 's #Hyperboria (#cjdns) before it, is an overlay network where every target IP is essentially a public key. #DNSSEC also helps here.

  17. 9/ Recovering free will online

Let's look at the tech. For data link and networking, of course there are #LoRA, and #XBee. #meshtastic is atop #LoRA. #Briar can form a #Bluetooth mesh. #NNCP is a powerful delay-tolerant network. #cjdns and #Hyperboria form mesh networks, optionally using the existing Internet as a backhaul; their goal is nothing less than replacing the Internet. #Tor of course provides some of this too, at a different layer.

  18. @dwagenk I wonder what would happen if you connected to (which uses ).

  19. what if use #cjdns address as primary id for #nomadicidentity . #activitypub nodes could be interconnected via #hyperboria, and handle user's interaction using their cjdns address. So you can join any type of node, and start sharing your followers with videos from #peertube or with photos from #pixelfed . If chosen instance dies, user can just join another, without losing his social network. Node's domain will just expose user's content to www

  20. A quick primer on the Yggdrasil #meshnet:

    ▶ End-to-end #E2E #encryption between nodes, always, without exception.
▶ New routing scheme based on a globally-agreed spanning tree.
▶ Adapts quickly to changes in network topology.
▶ Works on a range of platforms - including Windows!
▶ Works over existing #IPv4 or #IPv6 networks.
    ▶ Written in #GoLang.
▶ Should be familiar to anyone who has used #cjdns or is a part of #hyperboria.
